Now to this story if it was an ls1 then, either the guy just wasnt driving hard or maybe he missed a shift or something anything can happen. i love my z had three z before this one and i ill race anyone who wants to race, but i do know my place on the food chain. But i do love saying i have a Z and Z. when im telling what kind of cars i have to someone.
Thank you for this post.

My only problem was when it was stated that he was still pulling on the "SS" in third and fourth....if it would have been a average or better driven LS1, at the top of 2nd and especially 3rd, at the very least, he would not have been pulling on him any more...and in all actuallity, the "SS" should have started reeling him in.

Thats the thing about street racing...yep, anything can happen, and (unless you stop and talk to the guy) you never know what you just raced, or what it has done to it.

If he was always behind you how did you see what kind of spoiler the car had?

i believe if you read his story that he said he stopped pulling at some point and the camaro then went past him.
wasn't this what the thread was supposed to be about, his story?
this is what the racing threads always turn to

Just a question

How is this a fair comparision if you have 2.73 gears in your Z28?

Did you put gears in your Z28 that slow it down?

Do you believe that the Z would be 2 cars behind Stock for Stock or do you think that a good wheel spin would have given the Z enough time to get away, perhaps when the white Z28 from the original post started to reel him in is when the Z owner decided he was going fast enough? Is this possible?

Honestly, I'm trying to figure out what your talking about here....if I'm not mistaken, 2:73s were stock gears for the A4 cars with 3:27s as an option...even my old 95GT (when it was an Auto came with 2:73s....

I dunno...maybe I'm not understanding you here....

Z28s with autos come stock with 2.73s if you dont chech the GU4 performance option which upgrades to 3.23s. I dont understand why you are saying that is was an unfair race with 2.73s. What is the gear ratios available for the 350Z?

That's why I am asking, I am not a f-body guy so I don't know what they come with stock. But most people don't talk like that, why do you mention what gears you have if they are stock. One would make the assumption that they are aftermarket.

He was probably mentioning the gears to let you know what turds they are...and that the car obviously would not get out of the hole the best it could.
When I had the stock (AOD-E) gears in my 95GT...especially after I swapped in a 5 spd...I let it be known what crappy gears my car had...cause it was an absolute PIG out of the hole...

ok guys dont kill me but here is why, first i let my buddy (bill) drive the nissan Zis becuase i am not a good shifter at all, i have had all autos since i was 19 when i got my first car,This is my first stick and to see the full performance of the car i let bill drive. second the 2.73 gears are pretty much the worst gears you can get with an LS1. BUt hey i wasnt upgrading anything it is fast enough. I bought An MT Z (nissan) becuase it is kinda fun to drive around with when your out cruizin. So, unlike other 350 owners i have yet to even beat a new gt, becuase im new at driving, so after saying all that, this why i say i have 273 in the cheby and why i let my friend drive the car. Besides i have no problems letting friends who admire my car take it for a drive.

im just stating that my 350 z with a great driver could not beat my auto z28 with the worst gears. Dont hammer me i love both of my cars Hey i bouth them. OH the person who showed me too drive stick is my girlfriend and she is not really a race type driver either so.

Thats cool, I just didn't understand about the gears, I have never owned a car that had to have them changed so I wasn't sure

2.73's aren't that bad if you get a good converter. My car ran a 12.99 with 2.73 gears. After the converter install I should run 12.5 or better with a good set of drag radials. I don't know if you can get a converter for a Z but it is the best performance mod you can do for an auto.

Heres something to think about.. This kid played with a camero too, but lost his life.

Rockford Deputy Police Chief Greg Lindmark looks over the wreckage of a car late Tuesday afternoon. Jason Rush, 22, was killed in the accident in the 6600 block of East State Street. Witnesses said two cars were racing for about two blocks when a third car pulled into Rush's path, causing him to lose control. The driver of the other car left the scene.

All of the F-bodys I have seen running 12s were M6, which FYI come with 3.42s. So you are way off base with your sarcasm.

I had a 99z28, bone stock m6 and ran 13.3 at 104.7 the first time I've ever raced the 1/4 mile. I recently purchased a 2002 m6 ram air WS6, ran it and could not break out of the 14's. Just my story.

I sure hope someone kills this thread.

1) Why are there GM/Ford lovers in this forum?

2) I don't believe half of what they claim they ran bone stock for
the 1/4

3) BTW, I have HAD my share of Camaros and Mustangs, but my
current car is a "stock" Geo Metro that runs 11 flat for 1/4.

Again.... someone please stop the madness!!

Why do you people keep asking why we are here? I have never seen anybody ask a non LS1 owner why they are posting on LS1.com. Believe what you want doesnt matter to me. So are you just telling us about your previous cars or are you impling something about them.
