I am sorry but if you could drive your 99 to low 13s and the 2002 LS1 is making more power doesnt that make you a bit suspicious about your car. It pretty obvious that either something is wrong or you forgot how to drive your M6.

A little more info (BlueWS6 is my brother). He bought the '99 Z28 used. It appeared to be totally stock, but I couldn't believe the 13.3 he ripped off his very first time at the track. Conversely, we ran the WS6 a few times in the fall and we were pretty disappointed. The WS6 had about 2,000 miles on it at the time. I hear they get quicker as they get some miles on 'em. The Camaro was well broken in. The Pontiac is a bit heavier, but I think it's still a bit off. We'll have to get back out in the spring.

There seems to be a very wide range of 1/4 mile performance with even stock LS1s.

Thanks Jim. However I don't think weight is a factor. There shouln't be any difference between Pontiac and Chevy unless one is a ragtop. We'll see what I can do with more miles on the car when Island Dragway opens back up this season. mil.

350z Newbie

I sure hope someone kills this thread.

1) Why are there GM/Ford lovers in this forum?

The 350z is a sweet looking car. I have thought so since they announced the release. I would consider it in the same class as the camaro, mustang, wrx, etc. Some of us actually like seeing where you guys stand.

2) I don't believe half of what they claim they ran bone stock for
the 1/4

Get off your bum and go to the track. Computer racing is boring and magazines base off of one car. Talk to the people running the times. Most will be glad to tell you what they have done.

3) BTW, I have HAD my share of Camaros and Mustangs, but my
current car is a "stock" Geo Metro that runs 11 flat for 1/4.

Was this a point or did I miss somthing?

Nice cars guys and gals! Wish I could afford to buy another car!

Nice post J&D, I agree. This post is ripe for death. Geo Metro quarter in 11, damn! Reminds me of when my 'ol 280zx got crushed by a Dodge Omni GLH. Had no Idea what that POS looking car was until it repeatedly blew me away by several car lengths. New found respect for the POS heh. Btw, not in anyway inferring your car is a POS, just that it's another compact that goes like hell.

I think maybe the mods are hoping it would die on its own. It was close a few times, but people keep complaining about it and it gets shot right back to the top. Ooops....it's back up there now isn't it?

I wish it would die so that I don't have to see "Camero" any more. It drives me nutz. But I guess I'm not helping.

Some folks questioned our presence here. It's not really to come in and prove how superior or inferior our choice in cars might be. For me, it's just for educational purposes. Both ways. I get to learn about your cars and have the opportunity to impart knowledge about my car. Some folks are less subtle than others in trying to "educate", and some folks are more receptive than others when being "educated". I lurk here and on the Honda-Tech site. I don't post unless I have something constructive to say (again, in the eye of the beholder) - typically it's in response to some misinformation around Turbo Regals.

I'm going back to lurk mode....have fun and drive safe.

Jim
