I think anyone that claims that either way (unless it is up a canyon) is interesting. I raced a late Stang and did well, BUT I am not going to claim "many car lengths". I think anyone that claims that HAS to know the other person either wasn't racing or was in a V6 stang

is your time posted with no mods? if so, i am very impressed. i really liked what ford did with the mach 1's, except for the rims. for once, ford made a car that sits nicely between the gt and the cobra. there idea with the bullit was not too impresive, as it was not noticibly faster than the gt, imo.
looking forward to running a mach 1, and a z. i think both cars are great.

I want to run w/ one too, see a lot of GT's but no cobras or Mach1s. I like the current stang body style, the mach 1 and cobra a little better. I don't mind the GT and down, they are just a dime a dozen, but then again, I say the same thing about vetts. I am interested to see what the actual new bodystyle is going to look like, I hope it close to all the pictures I have seen thus far. If it is, and performance is high, then I might buy one as my day car.

2002ish GT from a 60-100 roll on the free way... walked him like a chiwaawaa on a long leash...

2000ish Cobra he pretty much walked me...

Both were lowered with body kit...

IMHO - GTs unmodified just don't have a chance.

Well, and I'm not trying to be arrogant here....but their shouldn't have even been a "pretty much walked me" in there. I raced either a G-35 or a Z and completely desecrated him....and was he racing...yes he was cause it was a 3 way race with a 99/01 Cobra the G-35 or Z and myself. Again, not being mean or cocky, just stating what happened...and at the time I was 100% stock.
Now the only think I have done is a CAI...full exhaust is coming next....along with about 400 to the rear wheels.

And I do agree that stock GTs "just don't have a chance"....

Well, there's a BIG difference between a 320hp Cobra and a 390hp Cobra. I'd be willing to guess that the Cobra he raced was a 320hp model.

I think the thing about Mustangs is that there's just too many flavors of them (between year, model, power, etc.) that you really don't know what you're racing unless you chat w/ the owner. I was behind my friend and a GT last weekend and my friend completely tore him up. Afterwards, they gave each other thumbs up.

Michael.

point noted....I was a bit too quick to react there.

I seriously hope you rephrase that. Almost sounds like you took you car to 110mph on 3rd gear. With the stock 3:27 gears Gt's are knocking near redline around 101mph.

Zogan, nice kills. I hope you take your car to the track someday and get us times. While it's nice to hear about kills, 1/4 mile times are the only things we can show for that will validate some of our stories.

I sure hope you eventually woke up from that dream! I'd sure like to know where all these monster Z cars are when I'm on the street, because so far the 4 that I've encountered can just barely keep up with a stock Mustang GT, let alone a C5 Vette (yeah, right).
Sounds like TRMachI needs to wake up from a dream here... not the Z owners.

So far, I have completely dusted 4 Mustang GTs (various mid-90s to current models) and 2 Bullitt GTs. The new Z is more than a match for a normal GT unless it has a fair number of mods.

The Mach I... that's a different story... raced one of those and lost by 2, maybe 2 1/2 car lengths. They are very impressive, but most Mustangs aren't toting the HP of the new Mach I's.

Had chances to race Cobras a couple of times, but sometimes you just gotta know better!

Not trying to ruffle anyones feathers, but when mixing Zs and Mustangs, slowest to fastest (minus serious mods) is Mustang GT, Mustang Bullitt, 350Z, Mustang MachI, Cobra.

Pretty impressive for a vehicle designed for more than just straight line performance. Put these same cars on a true road course and I'm sure only the Cobra would best the Z... and that would only be because of the huge advantage it would have in the straights.

You need to remember alot of GT's are running around with auto's. They're 3-4 tenths slower in the 1/4 mile than the 5-speeds.

Actually, I sleep quite well thank you, but then I'm not tossing and turning all night trying to come up with unrealistic kill stories to post on internet message boards.

its not like I accomplish anything from beating a mustang GT. I am sorry TRMullet1, you make all of Z owners wish we would of bought a mustang. I don't have any problems w/ the Mustang GT, I don't mind the body style, I like the cobra better, but I would still choose the Z. But I tell you what, next time I post anything else, I will PM you first for your approval. That way I can get some sleep.

Default No disrespect...

But its funny reading all these Kill's...and noticing that All the "OTHER" Forum people hang out here to hear what the new Z is doing and to post teh ones they've beat??

All the V8/LS1 whatever you call it are Always in here--I've seen one guy BullitMustang(spell?) in another forum on this site---I just think its Funny!!

BUt that was just pointing out something not flaming--do what you want--

either way...stangs are fast and Very Slow-- I've raced many in my INTEGRA(when it was supercharged & w/o the JRSC) and have won about everyone of em!!Got KILLED by a Highly modded/slammed/Gauged(had ton of Gauges)so I'm guessin it was SC'd in my RSX-S w/ just INJEN Intake--we took off and I jumped him from the line-shifted after him to 2nd..then half way through he just started pullin and I got spanked! Who cares---that dude better have beat me---I had a basicly Stock car and I'm sure he had over $2000+ on that car maybe more--so ya win some and lose some..but who cares!!

Moral:
The Z is not the NEw 'Super Car'or anything--it can be beat and it can beat the unbeatable..(like me in my Stock 00" GSR vs/ a 3000GT VR-4)pulled him and won by half a car!

I'm happy w/ mine and don't care if I can beat a Damn GT Mustang or a damn Viper,.hahaha.Thats not everything--but great Kills either way!

Nice kills on the mustangs. Atleast you realize that the Vette would have killed you after 90mph or from a stop.

I don't nead to rephrase what I said...if you push 3rd gear to 110 MPH you will be at 6000 RPM's and just about to hit the revlimiter, which is around 6200...give it a try some time ...but just for the record the race was over when I went to shift to 4th..as I rarely go faster then 90 in the city limits of Tampa..as the risk is to high these days (Cops)

True...however, the guys/girls that are going to be out street racing more than likely are running a 5 spd....and from what I have seen, 5 spds are ETing anywhere from 13.7- low 14s, and from 102-99 mph.
Now, I will be honest, I have not been to the track since the 350Z has been out, so I'm going by ETs in people's signatures here....And.....I know anything can happen in a street race, but the post that people just think a GT isn't gonna beat a Z...period....well, that just isn't the case.

I like the Zs a lot...I looked at them before I got my Cobra, so please don't think I am bashing....but some of the post in here are just about as bad as going over to LS1.com and posting that my old 95GT with H/C/I/E ect, ect beat an F-body....they were in complete denial.

Jester..you would be surprised of how many people in stock GT's are out there with an automatic..trying to hang...its depressing

Cause...alot of people assume its a 5 speed...and it causes us to lose our street credit as auto's just can't hang... they are more for show boating and lookin Pimp goin down the road
