Ran 1/4 track against SC S2000 TWICE
The Z still doesnt stop to impress me. Went to the track on saturday for the first time in the Z. I have lots of track experience with my other cars (750rwhp Mustang Drag car, IS300 Turbo)
The track is a couple of hundred yards from the ocean making it very slipper with the salt. The car in completely Stock and had 1/2 tank of gas, no spare and big subwoofer in the back. I let a little air off the back tires and launched at 2500 rpms. Got a lot of wheelspin in first, chipped second and third. That run was a 14.6, no other info like 60' or mph because they werent giving any more data
For the second try they lined me up next to a Vortech Supercharged S2000
The owner even had drag radials on the back! Lights came down, revved to 2000rpms and I cut a .520 reaction time. I instantly put a car length on the S2k, second came and still was in front. Put third and I was expecting the S2k to start reeling me in fast but he didnt! His shifts were REALLY slow also. I finished in front and ran a 14.2, he ran a 14.4
The S2k owner got next to me and told me he was running rich
(I thought this was supposed to be a bolt on mod for the S2K, no tunning necessary) I think it was more due to his bad driving, slow reaction time and shifts.
Then I gave the car to my son which also lined up next to the Honda again. He got a little wheelspin but AGAIN beat the SC S2K. He run a 14.3, dont know the time for the Honda but was about a 1 1/2 car back again.
We were incredibly happy with the Z, not a bad time for our slippery track where cars usually run half a sec slower than the states and got to beat a modified s2k!!

LOL, what are you talking about? The S2k takes VERY well to boost. With it's high compression and some good tuning low boost levels yeild great results.
EX: 7lbs of boost adds about 100-110whp, with full boost at @5k. Pretty good considering the fuel-cut is 9K.
What the car wouldn't like is lots of boost. Obviously the CR would have to be brought down to add much more air.

I talked to someone this weekend who drove a Supercharged S2K. He said the one he drove was the vortech bolt on kit and the tuning was horrible. The car was much slower then Stock up till about 7K and was only quicker then a Stock S2K from 8300rpm- 9000rpm. From what he was saying the comptech blower is more reliable power. It starts making torque gains at 3000 rpm. Check out the dyno here http://www.comptechusa.com/images/dy...percharger.pdf
So since the S2K run's a 14.0 stock in magazines and many guys have cranked out 13.6's and 13.7's completely stock it sounds like this guy was having running problems.

1. I've had the great priveledge of coordinating and participating at many track days and have seen what a supercharged S2000 with stock suspension do versus an S2000 with a Comptech unit. Both cars were driven by the same driver which happens to also be an S2000 owner. Anyway, the supercharged car barely ran 1/4 of a second faster per lap at GingerMan Raceway.
2. Take a look at the impressive dyno numbers vs. the lack of improved acceleration. 1/4 mile times only go down about a 0.3 of a second with an additional 80+ horsepower at the wheels? Something does not seem right. Check out the latest issue of Sport Compact Car for the exact numbers.

GingerMan is a great track near Sout Haven MI. It is "considered" to be tight and technical. Typical times for an S2000 there are in the 1:40 range. Just for reference, ZO6's run in the 1:37's stock. I don't know what a 350Z will turn, but do hope to find out this Spring. Anyway, heres some diagrams of the track.

Oh yeah, I was speaking of an S2000 with a Comptech Supercharger in regards to the aforementioned times at GingerMan. The Vortech car is the one in SCC.
Brian.
