Default RSX driver dies in racing accident

Just another reminder of what can happen on the street.

I remember this guy from when I was thinking of buying a RSX and followed that forum.

man that's just sad. Makes me think twice about racing sometimes. Apparently, he lost traction and hit a pole, then flipped the car a couple times.

Everyone seems sad about it, but am I the only one who is angered by his stupidity? What a waste of life! And for what? To prove to that other driver that your car goes just a bit faster? As much as I love performance cars, I don't agree with street racing.
Street racing is inherently more dangerous than racing on the track because there are so many more uncontrollable variables and threats to deal with. Furthermore, should anything happen at the tracks, there are trained professionals with emergency equipment who can reach the accident within minutes. Street racing does not have such safety factors.

What he was doing was irresponsible to all those who share the road. What he did was irresponsible to those who knew and cared about him. His paid for his stupidity with his life, but it could have been much worse. What would have happened if he had passengers? What would have happened if he hit another vehicle? What would have happend if he cripped someone for life? What would have happened if his actions caused the death of an innocent bystander?

I feel sorry for his family and friends, but I don't feel sorry for Bert. He should have known better. I just hope people take something away from this tragedy, rather than just "feel sorry for the loss."

I hope those that read about this will take a moment and think about the possible consequences the next time some jackass pulls up next to them and revs.
