I have a friend that works at the service department at Mitsubishi, and he pulls the governors (fuel regulator) out of mitsubishis when the car is paid off...
He said the "governor" elimination is simply a different hazard switch. He said to bypass it when at high speeds all you have to do is turn on your flashers/hazard lights. Might not work for nissans, but it does for mitsubishi's (according to him).
I don't know if this will work for the Z or not, I don't have the road (or *****) to test this at 156+. Any speed demons want to test this at high speeds?

No. They have their flashers on because their huge wing (you know, the one that makes their car look like a buggie) is about to make them take flight and they just wanna tell you to get out of the way.

And all this time I thought they were doing that to tell us htat they thought their car was faster than ours. Man, what was I thinking.
I can see exactly where this thread is going.
On a topical note, I went for a top speed run once but when I maxed out the speedo, I let off. 150mph is plenty fast for me.

Well, its not about changing the top speed; its about bypassing the switch that tells the computer to cut the fuel at that point (156 or 165 or whatever: still debated).

I always thought an electronic governor would mess with the ingition sequences to foul the timing of spark plug firing. I know the older governors started by limiting the amount of fuel based on rpms, which were detected by a little spinning weight centrifugal force measurement deal. Anyway, not trying to sound intelligent, just expressing my awe at the vsatamount of knowledge present here.

The start of the thread is interesting.. if there is a simple bypass in the ECM code like this..
