What tires are good?
Hey I have a Stock Base and I was at the track the other day and my best run was a 14.01 @ 100. But I know i could of done better but the tires that came with the car suck. I want to get new tires just on the back ones with the stock rims, does anyone have any suggestions on any good street/drag combination tires?
oh and p.s.- what about changing the size as well from 235 to 245 or something?

Get a cheap set of 15" wheels. Invest in a set of BFG Drag Radials in the 275/60/15 variety. When your at the track change them out, and you shouldnt have any traction problems. The tires are about $150 a piece, and you can use them on the street, but they wont last long.
I've heard from others here that Bridgestone S-03's are a good tire. I deduced from their comments and the blurb on the Bridgestone site that these tires are good street tires, handling better on both wet and dry pavement. From my experience, the stock tires have extremely poor traction on wet pavement.
I also asked a question regarding an overall tire/rim change to 245's all around. I was interest in reducing understeer and gaining the ability to rotate tires front to back. I got some really good responses from people here. You might want to review the information in that thread (It was entitled understeer--located in this forum)Couldn't hurt right?

I don't think this is a good idea. Sticky tires at the rear and stock street tires up front will make your understeer problem much worse. Like Sukkoi says, you should just bite the bullet and buy a set of cheap 15 or 16 inch wheels and proper drag tires. Even a reasonably sticky street tire, like the Falken Azenis Sports (under $75 bucks in many sizes), will be a huge improvement over stock tires.
