Besides CB, now we have 350Z's running even with Z06's, which even the one-legged one-armed man that drives for MT managed a 12.5 out of.

To the original poster, he was messing with you. I did the same thing to a BMW 325i a couple of weeks ago. I bet that loser posted his "kill" on some BMW forum out there and is patting himself on the back as we speak.

What if it wasn't really a Z06 (rebadged), and this guy has a factory freak 280rwhp 350Z? Let's also hypothetically guess the vette lost a lot of traction, and can't drag race for ****. What if the cocky Z06 driver tried some kind of homemade mod on his ride and caused probelms?

Again folks, we know the true stock Z06 is faster, a lot faster -- but anything can happen in the streets. With too many variables its difficult and a waste of time to discuss it. It would only be worthy if we had more information/details from both drivers, witnesses, or even if they ran a few times.

Point is, don't be so quick to call BS on someone. At no point did he claim that his 350Z is ultimately a Z06 killer.

You also think you hung with a Z06. Anyone else seeing a pattern here?

Man I feel your pain. I agree with what Zxsaint said above. But, dang dude, a Z06, there is just no way you should be able to tie it to 65 mph.

I've been fortunate to race a few fast cars, and I've done remarkably well. But, I know that if I ever raced a Mustang Cobra (390 hp) or a Vette Z06 (385 hp), at least one that's just not "badged," that they are simply in another class. Heck, even the 50th anniversary C5 vette has 350 hp and does a quarter mile a half-second faster than our best 13.9s.

The only way you would have any remote chance of keeping up with a Z06 is if it were a regular LS1 Vette that is badged Z06. And, even then, you have to be a good shifter because the Z v. LS1 in my opinion, is a driver's race.

What makes the least sense to me is the title of your post...

"Finally a good race with a Vette ZO6"

A "good" race with any car would imply that both drivers of both cars would drive both cars to potential. In your case, you drive a mid 14sec car at best...and stayed even with a 12sec car to 65mph???? Damn, even if the Z06 had traction control on...it would have been an ugly ugly outcome had he actually raced you.

Just because you pull away from a light fast doesnt mean the car next to you is "racing you".

Maybe this is the problem here.....most of you guys have no idea what kind of power these cars put down.

02 Z06s are putting out 405HP now....03 Cobras are very near that. ALL LS1s are putting down around 350 HP to the rear wheels which is 350-360 at the crank.

Calling a race with a LS1 a drivers race is like calling a race between a 350Z and a Geo a drivers race......with that logic a race with John Force is a drivers race too. Thats just retarded.

I know Z06s are 405hp and a little lighter then a 350Z. Its obvious he couldnt drive for sh*t. I once raced a late model 911 turbo off the line. He put over a car length on me before 40mph.

Skidding means the same as "lost of traction". Look it up silly

350Z 0-60 under 6sec Geo 15sec. hmmm almost a 10sec difference. Another cocky driver. Z06 4.1 best 350Z 5.3(6sp) hmmm go figure..

Hi guys,

First of all, nice site - This is my first post here....I have an '02 405hp Z06, and had a run with a 350Z from a stoplight several weeks ago. Here's what happened:

I was in competetive driving mode, which means active handling was on but traction control was off. It was about 35 degrees outside, cold pavement and very little traction. I pulled up beside a 350Z on a divided 4-lane highway at a light. I wasn't sure if he wanted to race or not. When the light went green, we both eased off the line, then he mashed the gas at 5mph or so.

I hit the gas immediately after he did, and the back tires completely lost traction on the cold ground. 1st gear was useless. I short shifted into second at 5500 rpm hoping to gain traction, but second gear spun also. I spun second all the way to the rev limiter, bounced off the limiter, then hit third. At this point my front bumper was at the 350Z's back quarterpanel. He was not having the traction problems that I was having. I had gained almost no ground, and perhaps lost a little, due to the tire spin and fishtailing.

Once I hit third, the Vette hooked and I shot past the 350. It looked like he had dropped an anchor I ran up to 140mph and put several bus lengths on him, although I think he backed off the gas once I was 4-5 cars ahead.

Anyway, I gave him a thumbs up and turned off. If the race had only been to 50mph, I would have lost. If I had not spun the tires in first and second, the 350 would have lost badly to 50mph.

So, anything's possible. Congrats on running with the Z06 - sounds like he spun, maybe had TC engaged, and gave up early. A win's a win either way.

Later,

Chris

okay not trying to call you a liar or anything but there is no way in hell that he was racing you. a friend of mine has a 99 vette and yet another friend has a 98 cobra. well i was riding in the vette with the TC turned on, and when we launched it did bog horribly. however we only lost about a half car length to the cobra and ran with him till about 90. the cobra by the way had full exhaust and the driver runs 13.3's all day long. so for us to be in a standard vette and with the tc on and still manage to run with a mid 13 second cobra. there is no way in hell that someone in a z06 was actually racing and only tied a mid 14 second car to 65
