Default 13.8 stock

I took my Z to the track and got two runs in. I have a blue track with a two tone leather interior but otherwise completely stock. My first run was a 14.2 but on my seccond run I nailed the launch and got a 13.839 at 102.62mph. I know this is good so I thought I'd post.

typeR, does that say 3.5 CL type S? didn't know they made. If you meant 3.2 CL type S what mods do you have to get those times?

headers intake tires(toyo T1S) and a stroked short block bumping discplacement to 3.5L and compression to 10.85 from 10.5 the stroker could be done with my o.e. block, but it was a crate motor, and the guy that builds them says he likes to use honda truck blocks (i.e. oddessey,MDX,pilot) because the cylinder sleeves are thicker, discapting heat better...the crank is from the oddessey etc but the rods and pistons arent, nor is the oil pump (after market).

You can do better

Get that down to a nice even 2.0 or 1.9x and you'll be seeing near 13.60's

What shift points did you use?

What rpm's did you launch at? Method?

Ben, who hit 13.60 stock? Haven't heard that one yet. My method is being 19 and having such good reflexes. Practice juggling to get your hand eye coordination down but my launch method, well that's a secret. Even my friends have me drive their cars at the track to get better times out of their cars including an Integra type R with over 80k in it and several crazy money Supras.

I have no direct knowledge of any stock 13.6's honestly, it was a guesstimate..... no shift points to share, for the good of the community

But from my track experiance dropping .15 off of a 60 foot will drop over .2 off your total time if not .3 thats all.
And i know guys in FWD cars pulling 2.0 60 footers on street tires @ 20 psi in a mere 205/45/15 Kuhmo's

My freind pulled a 15.2 with a 2.2
Next trip 14.8x and a 2.0

Ben

Nice time. Get that 60' down some more and you will be running very quick times. 2.13 is really good for a front driver, for a rear driver its pretty average. Get back to the track and get some more practice!

Which track were you running at? I usually go to Beaver Springs or Cecil County. It would be cool to get a group of Z's together for a track day!

I am not going to say it is impossible, but very unlikely you are going to hit a 1.9 60 foot time stock. 1.9 is about what AWD Subaru WRX's and AWD Talon's hit. 2.1 in a 350z is damn good.

AWD cars can get 1.6-1.7 60ft times. I've seen fwd Honda/Acura on street tires get 2.1 60ft times, so it doesn't seem impossible for a RWD with LSD to get below a 2.1. With Nitto 555r Street radials a 1.9 definitely isn't out of the question. That would put the 350 in mid 13 territory.

I agree with you -- but once you put in Nittos, you're no longer stock and you aren't comparing apples to apples.

I don't really think you can call Nittos a mod. They are just sticky tires that aid in traction. You can run on the street with them. Slicks migh be a different comparison because you can't use them on the street.

mod·i·fi·ca·tion ( P ) Pronunciation Key n.

1. A small alteration, adjustment, or limitation.
2. the act of making something different [syn: alteration, adjustment]
3. a slightly modified copy; not an exact copy

A mod isn't based upon whether or not it is street legal or not. A mod is a mod

So according to your theory if I change tires to Falkens then I'm modified... Obviously you and I differ on our definition of modified. According to your theory 80% of the cars on the road are modified because they don't have their orginal tires on there.

Modifications in my terms are any kind of power or handling adder. Since tires basically just help you keep the power on the ground they really aren't a mod, unless of course your talking about slicks.

But we are getting away from the subject. It still remains that sub 2.1 60ft times are acheivable by the Z in "stock" configuration.

I know guys in Mazda MX6's pulling cinsistent 2.0's on street tires with tread wear ratings of 300 +

Tires arent a mod IMO, stock tires may not have neough grip to pull better than a 2.1 that may be entirely tru, but that dosent mean a stock 350 with different tires (still street tires mind you) cannot pull a 2.0

Mustangs and vett and camaros can pull 2.0's on street tires as well and most weight in higher too!

So wiat till you get new tires and see, if that stockers are THAT god awful for you
