Beat up a Lexus.....
I got to be involved in my first real race...(if you can call it that). A friend of mine just purchased an IS300. Now coming from being a previous Honda Accord owner...I always thought those suckers were fast, they always handed my *** to me. Well, I guess what comes around goes around cause paybacks a *****....and I did it in spades
.
So we went out to an old country road that is extremely flat and about 3 miles long.....perfect for high speed drags and no traffic. My wife was with me and he had his girl with him. We lined up and my wife honked the horn. On three we went.....and boy did I go. By the end of 1st gear I was already a full car ahead, By 60 he was around 6 to 7 cars behind me...and by 100......well you could drop an aircraft carrier in between us and not hit either of our cars.
When we got back to my house we could only laugh about it. He was thinking his car would put up a better fight then that. I knew I would beat him, just not that bad.
Oh well....Lexus IS300's are still a pretty car. Anyone know how fast they run with FI????????

Dude, don't even bother with is300s. They are rated at 215 bhp, not that great. Sure, they have the infamous 2jz-ge motor, but they aren't worth racing. It's like a racing a mkiv supra n/a or a 3000gt n/a. Their i-6/v6 class is in the 220 horsepower range. Start trying to get a few races with some domestics. Like an 03 gt stang, or a lt1 z28. Or race a 03 + rx7. I've only got 500 miles on my Z, still breaking it in, but i hope to race one of those cars when my car is ready.
I traded my IS for my Z. The IS is slow as hell stock. But you can get alot from mods. I thought I was getting a fast car when I bought it. I got beat by a supercharged Tacoma one day. I got beat by just about everything I raced. It seems like everyone I see in Tucson is driven by an older lady.
yah as others have said... a stock IS300 is no where near our league. I test drove one before i got my Z ( my dad wanted to have a lexus line goin with the LS430) It is slow in stock form as someone mentioned. It basically a souped up Corolla on 17's. I'm glad i bought a Z instead of the IS300. But you sure did open a can of whoop *** on your friend!

Dont bother racing a stock IS300, most are autos like mine which USED to run high 15 secs. F/I in the IS is not cheap, but when properly done, the Z wont touch it. Even a turbocharged Z will have to really be boosting to run most F/I IS's since once the 2jz-ge is boosted, 450+ rwhp is easily achieveable on this engine. I only know about 4 IS that are pushing mid 300 rwhp but know more than 10 which are past the 400, 500 and a couple of 600rwhp
my friend is in the process of adding a turbo to his IS300. He is getting a stage two package which he claims is good for 450hp at the wheels. Suddenly after he drove my car he decided he needed to top me so this is what he is doing. Oh well, i just need to go out and get a turbo installed too! By the way, when you add a turbo it just seems like common sense that you would have to modify your tranny and suspension to handle the power gains. He claims you dont have to. I think he is going to see his tranny in his rear view mirror after a few runs! LOL.

haha, i beat an is300 as well! it was basically the same results as the ones you posted. i had just me tthe guy on the road and i asked him to run, knew i'd beat him but seriously.... these cars are real SLUGS! the guy had an automatic - not sure if a manual would make that much of a difference.
Yeah and even though it has the infamous 2jz-ge motor, my understanding is that the block is the same, but the heads, injectors, pistons, cam....and much more is not the same. All my friend says is "its the same motor as the supra, which can handle 800 hp at the wheels". Well correct me if i am wrong, but the block is "the same" but all the other components make it quite a different engine.
OK here is the kit my friend is getting. Its made by peter farrel. The link shows 600hp? and it runs a 13.5 1/4 mile? something must be wrong here. And this is a stick vs my friends automatic.
