As far as a LS1 running 12.6 bone stock hmmmmmm,,,,,not to discredit anyone, but much like 350Z's running low-mid 13's stock, I'd have to see it to believe it.

Well hey, like I said, I traded it in at 16K and the clutch was toast. I drove it like I meant it. You really have to if you want to go fast without spending too much dough. I think I can get a 13.6 or so out of the Z bone stock if I ever get to the track...
Anyone in DFW want to make a Friday night out of it at Ennis one of these days?

I've been trying to get the Dallas Z'ers to go for the longest..... Was going to go this past friday 5-2-03 but didn't trust the weather.
I'm ready when you are man. How about this friday 5-9-03. I'll try and muster up some others.

I also call BS on a 12.66 stock ls1. I'm a z owner, but i'm pretty sure that only ls6s can dare come close to a 12.6 w/ slicks. But nonetheless, i'm proud of my v6. Sure, it's running above average compression on a v6 producing almost 290bhp, but it sure tears up your v6 rs/lx maros and stangs. Why the hell did i just mention that, it isn't even worth mentioning. But my Z can take on and pull mid 90s gen. lt1s. and definitely beat the new gt's.

I personally know a guy that ran 12.10@117 when he was stock...that means stock Goodyears! Several have run similar times with the fastest being 11.93...awesome track, weather, and driver...

There are a few others on z06vette that have 60' times even better than JRod's 1.86 on stock treads (best being 1.79??) suprisingly...

1.86 isn't possible on street tires.....
and when i post a time i don't post a best ET and a best MPH together.....post the MPH for the ET you ran....
Thats pretty much how my timeslip looks for my bone stock TA only the 60 ft was 2.15 and the MPH was higher.
I'm sure with a 1.86 60ft i could run that ET as well....but NOT ON STREET TIRES!!

Actually there is a guy on our board, and he has a timeslip to prove it, that has hit 1.69 60' on his street tires, he also set the record for 60' on that track for street tires, so it is possible, good driving skills and a good prepped track can make all the difference in the world...

That's right. The timeslip I posted was not made on a run down behind the woods track. It is relatively new, just north of San Antonio and is NHRA/IHRA certified. In fact, there are IHRA races there. Track prep is top notch. I ran NHRA for 7 years then sold the race car (67 Nova w/stock 327 ran 11.5) to finish college. It isn't like I am some dude off the street just playing around. I sort of know how to launch a car. And yes, there are faster street tire 60' than mine. Welcome to domestic racing guys. Torque and clutch control are key. Torque is something the Z has quite a bit less of than an LS1 and as long as you know how to put it down, then you are set.

I love my Z but as I have said before, they are no match for any LS1. My 01 Z28 (not SS) ran 12.68 @ 109.9 MPH with a K&N and a Flowmaster Muffler only. Any Z owners in here, I would not bet on any races with an LS1 powered auto.
