Well, today i finally got a chance to race with this guy with his blk t/a.
we raced like 4-5 times on the interstate.
the first time we started from 40 mph, which was great for me, cuz 40 is my sweet spot for 2nd. He had a lil traction problem but after that he caught up and passed me. he pulled a good 2-3 cars up to 115.
the 2nd time i started in 3rd gear about 60. we were even until i shifted to 4th and then he flew by.
man.. i got spanked. he beat me by 2-3 cars everytime we raced.
well i had fun
im pretty sure he was stock with a 6mt.
cheers

The results in this race is exactly what I would expect from a properly driven LS1 vs a properly driven Z. No disrespect to the Z, but in straight line performance, the LS1 just has too many ponies.

I love my Z but as I have said before, they are no match for any LS1. My 01 Z28 (not SS) ran 12.68 @ 109.9 MPH with a K&N and a Flowmaster Muffler only. Any Z owners in here, I would not bet on any races with an LS1 powered auto.

No def. not. I have seen LS1's with no mods do the same times. By the way, I traded the car in with 16K miles on it and the clutch was about done. I bought the car with the specific intent on running 12's stock, which it would have done, but I liked the sound of the Flowmaster. I pulled a 1.8 60' with that car when I ran that pass. The LS1 is fast. By the way, there are some 01 and 02 F Bodies with LS6 blocks as GM had a overflow of LS6 blocks when making them for the Vette so they stuck them in the F Bod. Stonger and more reliable, a lucky few will have them. About 10% of 01's and 25% of 02's. I will always wonder if I had one of these blocks. Also, as most people know, the 01 and up was faster than the 98-00 because of having the LS6 intake.

I also call BS on a 12.66 stock ls1. I'm a z owner, but i'm pretty sure that only ls6s can dare come close to a 12.6 w/ slicks. But nonetheless, i'm proud of my v6. Sure, it's running above average compression on a v6 producing almost 290bhp, but it sure tears up your v6 rs/lx maros and stangs. Why the hell did i just mention that, it isn't even worth mentioning. But my Z can take on and pull mid 90s gen. lt1s. and definitely beat the new gt's.
