Test&Tune @ Savannah Dragway. Photos!!!
Okay, so here's some photos from tonight at the crummy dragstrip we race at. I was testing different launch methods, etc. My friend took some photos! Also, my comments.
Things to note:
1.) This is an 1/8th mile. Yes, I know it's L-A-M-E that I am not racing on a longer strip. However, there is no conveniently located quarter in Savannah. Sorry folks. Additionally, it is the lowest quality strip I have ever been to in my life. Very redneck. But, I wanted to share photos. So
2.) I consider myself an "intermediate" drag driver. I am certainly not up to running the 8.8 that people seem to think a 350 can run in the 1/8th. I was running 9.1 and 9.2 tonight. Then again (my psuedo-excuse), I have a loaded Touring 6MT. And I don't remove the tire or any of that ricer nonsense. I'm really not very hardcore about this, I have a really good time doing it though
That having been said, here are the pictures:

Me and my friend Dan in his 3000GT VR4 TT. He just had an engine swap and it's running wonderfully. He beat me this once when I had VDC on. He is a so-so driver compared to me, I usually beat him because he sits there spinning wheel for a while.

Me and Dan again, we made quite a few runs testing out launch methods and such.

This IS300 had a bit of stuff done to it and some bling rims, apparent in the photo.

Stop laughing. Yes, I am aware of what this looks like. Rest assured it didn't happen. This was 10 feet from the starting mark, and I was admittedly sleeping on the line. I ran past him in second gear and ended up with 3 carlengths on him. And this is just the 1/8th
I thought it was a good photo though, even though it doesn't do me much credit.

Me and my friend Andy in an LS6. I do not know much about American cars or this one in particular but I know it's an LS6. Not sure what the difference is, I know there's like...LS6, WS6, etc. It is pretty fast. I pulled him a little off the line, and ended up about a car behind him in what he called "A shitty run."

Andy and me. As you can see I was a bit ahead off the line, as I usually was with him. The thing with the light in between us is the starting block deal.

Me, gunning it off the line

Me and another guy with an LS6. This guy had EVERYTHING under his car that he could without moving out of bolt-ons. He was running about 8.3 in the 1/8th as he told me.

This was a dragster that was there for Test&Tune. It was originally a 5.0, and let me tell you...it f*cking hauled ***. I thought it was mighty "Fast-And-The-Furious"-esque with the wheels off the ground like that so I took a shot.

WOW, those pictures are AWESOME!!!
look at the Z and its lines closely, this thing is a piece of art and at night with the lights it is even more noticable. This car is beautiful and only has a few rival as far as looks. I would LOVE to see it next to a silver 911 C4S at the light, that would be hot.

What kind of "engine swap" did the vr4 get? That looks like the generation 3kgt that i have, mine is a 94, his is probably early 90s too, the old vr4s produced around 300bhp, and around 255 awhp, if the vr4 was stock, you should be able to pull it 85 mph + , it probably did beat you in the 1/8, cause it was a short track, and awd cars launch pretty o dang good. But in the 1/4, you have a good chance of shorter times.

Where Lemans Sunset looks best under bright lights, I've always thought the Silverstone really shines under the lights at night!

Thanks for taking credit for my pictures Syf0n :P. Anywho it certainly was a fun time at the ol' savannah drag way. I would like to see it when its imports vs domesticts sometime next year.
As for the shot of that camero, it was running against a 'cuda which alost run smack into the wall about halfway down the 1/8th.
