350Z Enth. VS. Camaro Z28
Who would win with equal drivers from a 15MPH roll up to redline in 6th gear?
Me and my friend are debating...
He wants the Z28
I want the 350Z
This race is stock vs. stock

And it starts again...... If it is a LT1 it would be close but the edge goes toward the Z. If it is a LS1 providing he does not screw up and he takes good care of his car. Then the edge goes to the Z28. If it is an Auto 4 then you would be able to hang longer but the edge still goes to the z28.
( I am saying it this way to stop all the F-bods from putting us back into our places in the foodchain ) Otherwise race him either way and post the results.

Perhaps you just need to type z28 into the search part in the racing section, I am sure you will find what you are lookin for.

yeah neither car will hit redline in sixth. the z28 has faster top speed in fifth. sixth is just a gas mileage gear. my vote is for the z28 winning in every aspect of straight line performance. my old ls1 would break the tires loose (a little) at 70 MPH. my Z has trouble at 25 or 30.

With stock gearing a six-speed f-body would redline in 6th at ~250 mph. Obviously it doesn't have the power to get anywhere near that, so top speed is in 5th. A shift to 6th at that speed will actually slow the car down.
To answer your question, from 15 mph to 150+ an LS1 f-body would pull buslengths on a 350Z.

I dunno about bus lengths, but an SS is expcted to be a mid 13 second car possibly high 13's at WORST. and a z28 is a migh 13 second car...so id have to say.....on a roll, which doesnt require much skill to mash gas n shift, the SS would contnue to gain thru the entire race..resluting, in what "stock lti" said about bus lengths, and the z28, should be pretty close, but i dont know how either car is above 120 mph so i wont reserve to guessing.

it came with a 6 speed manual or a 4 speed auto that you could get in any of these cars. The old Corvette had the LS1 also and you could get that with an auto or manual 6 speed. The trannies and motors in all of these cars were the same.
The Vette had a better intake and exhaust setup than these F-bodies so it was rated higher stock. The SS and WS6 versions had "ram air" and a "better" exhaust. You could also get these with a Hurst shifter as an option in the stick cars. However, the Z28 and the Trans Am would run just as fast as the SS and WS6 anyways. Sometimes faster. The WS6 and SS also had better suspension, etc.
The Formula Firebird was like the LX 5.0 Mustang in that it had the same motor as the Trans Am and WS6 (GT) but it had less weight due to lack of ground effects, etc. More of a sleeper.
All you had to do to any of the F-bodies to outrun a Vette were a few simple free mods like cutting some plastic here, rerouting a tube there, etc.
The 01 and newer LS1's came with the LS6 intake manifold to give a HP bump and some 10%-25% came with LS6 blocks as well giving them a bump in durability with thicker cylinder walls, etc.
Did I answer your question?
Also, ALL LS1 cars should run a mid to low 13 stock. If someone runs a high 13 in any LS1 vehicle, they can't drive. The autos are faster than the sticks in the 1/4 also. Especially with a stall converter.

it is much easier to be CONSISTENT in a A4 car but they are not faster......
SOMETIMES they may pull a QUICKER ET but the higher trap speed of the 6 speed shows it is FASTER......
and in my case I still haven't lost to an A4 anywhere close to stock....before my friend with an 01 Z28 got headers and only had converter, gears, and suspension I could pull on him from a roll....as sometimes beat him from a stop if he couldn't hook....now since the headers its close from a roll and from a stop i can't keep up.

I don't know if the Camaro Z28 I raced was a bad driver, messed up while shifting, I don't know, but off the light from dead stop he had about half car length on me up to about 3rd gear, in 3rd I caught up and it was neck to neck, we had to back off by the time we redlined 4 due to a red stop light.. I don't know if he mis-shifted and thats why I got my half car length back, but it would be a good race.

Some Z28's do have speed limiters on them, but only because they come with non-Z rated Tires...and the limiter is set at 116...
These are few and far between....
90% of Z28's do not have a limiter....
Bottom line 350Z is going to get schooled....
