Stop calling the Skyline GTR on the Best Motoring 350Z video a G35. It is not a G35. Rather, it is an R34 Skyline GTR with an RB26DETT motor and has no relation to the G35 coupe (with VQ engine) which is the current non-GTR Skyline sold in Japan. The G35 isn't even in the same class as a GTR (and neither are the 350Z's either). I know because I've driven a GTR in Japan, and I have a 350Z Track.

Default G35 is the Skyline ?

Maybe I was having visual hallucinations, but I have the DVD of the run and unless the Skyline GTR has the exact same body as the G35 coupe, that is what it was. Do they put a completely different engine in the G35 coupe in Japan ? It says 280 hp It has a G35 coupe body.

The G35 coupe is the Skyline in Japan, but it is not the Skyline GTR. There is no current GTR version of the Skyline (aka G35 coupe). I wish they had a GTR (and made it available in the states).

To clarify:

Infiniti G35 = Skyline V35

The Skyline V35 300GT has nothing in common with the infamous Skyline R34 GT-R whatsoever, except the name. Different styling. Different platform. Different drivetrain. Completely different engine (the G35 has a V6, the R34 has an inline-6). It bears the Skyline name solely for marketing purposes. Thus, a G35 owner who insists that he really drives a Skyline is wrong on multiple levels.

That said, the car in the movie is a V35, not a R34. And it held off a M3. The lesson: If you rob a German bank with your G and the police are driving M3s, you'll get away as long as there's a Z running interference.

EmpiricalGMan is right.
