The Mustang bullitt was a 2001 limited mustang. Mostly a looks and handling package. But it did have 5 more hp than the regular GT. So it was barely faster.
The Mach 1 is capable of mid 13 1/4 miles though.
Actually, from spending some time on stangnet and corral.net, I have read the bullitt owners tend to put down 240 hp to the wheels, where as a GT puts down 220-230 to the wheels (depending on the year, the 99 & 00 put down around 220, the 01+ put down a little more due to a bump in compression from 9:1 to 9.4:1.) They come with a better exhaust, underdriven pullies, an a much better intake manifold (aluminum I believe). Bullitts were probably underrated due to the fact that Ford really screwed up on the 99 cobra, and didn't want to have to deal with an embarrassment like that. Since then Fords ratings on the Bullitt, Mach 1, and 03 cobra have all been alittle conservative, judging from the average dyno pulls from each of said cars. The bullitt is usually a solid 280 hp at the motor.

The bullit already comes with pulleys and a different exhaust. You raced a stock bullit.

The heart of a comparison such as this is how each engine moves its car. Always a good sign, opinions among us were varied in the beginning as to who was quickest, and it was an amazingly close race all the way. Regular test driver Chris Walton did the honors, with the following results.
________0-30 Mph____0-60 Mph_____1/4- Mile
Cobra____ 2.109_____ 5.25_____ 13.62 @ 105.2
Bullitt____ 1.767_____ 5.15 _____13.59 @ 102.4
Mach 1___ 1.767_____ 4.70 _____13.19 @ 106.7
How's that for surprises? Who'd have thought a Cobra was slower than a Bullitt? And dig how the Mach 1 is more than a half second quicker to 60 mph than the Cobra--no wonder SVT put a blower on the '03 snake.

that test is a pretty good comparison, but the cobra should have had a lower et. the mph tells the the story. The mach 1 is the only car capable of a bone stock 13.0 or better out of the 3 though. the bullitts factory intake shines when you strap a blower on
just watched hotrod TV and they were testing the bullit...strapped on a throttle body,a computer and shorty headers...then added nitto 555R's and got a best of 13.80 at 102

This post is very correct. A new throttle body on a GT is pretty much a worthless mod; never really netting any hp gains. Shorty headers don't usually do diddily **** either. The exhaust manifold on the GTs is pretty good to begin with. The only gains come from long tubes. All the computer did was advance the timing like forpoint said. Their first real mods to the bullitt should have been the 4.10 gears, nittos and a new mid pipe, as the stock cat back is pretty good on the car.
I would have thought the cobra would have been faster than a bullitt, but then again it does have the IRS that doesn't really do the cobra justice on the fairmont platform. Traps speeds show the cobra would have walked all over the bullitt in top speed rolls.

I am not very familiar with that particular TV program, but I do know that many shows similar to it receive money from various sponsers, so perhaps that would play a roll in how the car "reacts" to mods. I know this was the case on horsepower TV several months ago, involving a 96-98 GT. It was complete crap. Traditional the above mods do not react with a noticeable hp increase on an otherwise stock GT motor, at least from my observations on places like stangnet and corral.net.
