Default video: chasing Porsches @ Grattan Raceway

This is a video of my first time at Grattan Raceway, a great 2 mile road course. In this video, I'm chasing a red 911 targa and Carrera 4 S with a mean exhaust note.

Right click and save this video to your computer. (13.7MB) I will most likely have to resize and compress this video in the future, but I hate watching video clips that are 160 X 120 pixels.

If someone can offer hosting, I have a couple more clips to post.

Cool! I guess you were too much for the Carrera 4S

Great video!

Isn't passing Porsches that cost twice what our Z's cost FUN!

Hopefully I'll try Gingerman next year. I'm going back to Blackhawk this weekend to play with the PCA people. LOTS of Porsches to pass!

Was someone holding the cam or did you have it mounted?

Thanks for the comments. I will reduce the size of this one to fit more videos on my server.

fdao, most people who spend that much money on a Porsche don't want to wreck it. Either way, I don't think he was happy when I came up behind him.

EnthuZ, this was a PCA event. Great people and a great event. If you get the chance to drive Grattan, I highly recommend it. It's just a little farther than Gingerman from the Chicago area, but I think it's worth it. I've been to Gingerman and can't say anything bad about it, plenty of run off and overall a very safe course.

SharpST77, I'd take a late model turbo Porsche over the Z, but I still can't wait to get in my car every morning to get stuck in traffic.

Beaker02, I built a camera mount based on LowFuel's design posted on this message board. I did not build it well and the vertical arm would wobble under braking and acceleration. I borrowed my friends camera mount. He bought it from Payn Technologies. I didn't think it would work due to the bolsters on the top of Z's seats, but if you compress the padding just a little the mount fits snugly.

nice skills. seems like you were hitting a lot of late apexes, unless it's just the video. cool to see the tail come out a little on the turn exits.

Thanks RAR for the server space.

Here are two more videos of Grattan. The first video shows the wrong way around the course, squealing tires and almost scary oversteer in the middle of 4th gear. A Corvette and an M Coupe both wrecked coming on to the front straight the day before I got there.

wrong way (8 MB)

The second video shows a better line around the track, with smoother steering inputs. I can definitely see where I can improve when I go back.

a little better (4.6 MB)
