Hi Alex... yeah they (Nizpro) ran a standard F355 on the same dyno and it got 205rwKW which was around 279rwHP... and the F355 is a rear engine with rear wheel drive and produces 380HP at its V8 engine.... this number didn't stay there long as Nizpro twin turbo charged that F355 with its standard compression (11.something to 1)... and got 550rwKW @ 12.5psi.... 550rwKW is like 748rwHP...

cheers,

richie

If those Ferrari dyno numbers are right with putting down 279rwhp and having 380 crank it would have around a 27% drivetrain loss. Something doesnt add up there.

yes... in australia, most of our wheel numbers are around 20 to 25% drivetrain loss... i don't really know why though... probably someone can really explain that!

I used to have an euro e36 3.2L evo spec m3 and put down only 182rwKW = 248rwHP (235KW = 321HP at the engine) with schnitzer exhaust and filter...

cheers,

richie

OK... update now... good news and bad news... damn.... why is there always a bad news!!!!! Arrrggg...

I went into the tuning shop today and the good news is that they told me, the engine sounds SOOOOO quiet, even quieter than the stock engine, one of the workshop managers didn't even notice when the engine was running... and they LOVED the sound of the engine... and the car is pulling REAL HARD up to 7500rpm which was where the fuel cut was set previous, so they raised the rpm further, and the engine was still making power up high up to 7600rpm... then suddenly, they heard an electrical type of noise... tick tick tick.... the vavle train decided to let go and the tapping noise was from the valves touching the pistons.... so they shut down the engine from there.... Damn... nismo valves was advertised for 11.0mm lift and probably with the rpm that high, they are just too weak...

and the power... gained some bottom end power and the top end... the mid range stayed pretty much the same (before the conversion)... and we are using '05 lower plenum too instead of the old '03 lower plenum... they have not yet fine tuning the top end... so expecting to get a bit more...

I am looking into valve systems now, any suggestion please? and where should I get those? gotta have the parts here in australia by mid Jan... any idea? I will prefer to have lighter valves and stronger springs... do you think JWT springs will be enough?

Here is the dyno curve just for now

cheers and thanks for any input!

richie

MIAPLAYA:

Thanks mate... do you have any idea on how long will they take to ship one out? Are they pretty fast or slow since I never deal with them... and do I deal with them directly?

Another thing is that my engine builder said.. we should have put in 12.5:1 compression ratio pistons in instead... because this engine just LOVES the high rpm! You can see from the dyno curve that the power hasnt dropped off yet even at 7300rpm...

Sorry.. no video... I went in a bit too late yesterday, so didn't catch the dyno action... but I will do some after they change those valve parts.

cheers,

richie

SGP is known to get things out pretty quickly...They should have these in stock so its just time needed to get from Texas to you...Should be worth it and should get you some more air flow

I am pretty sure that I read somewhere that these valves do not support over about 7300rpms.

Wouldnt you need to run racegas if it was anything over 11.5:1?

no.... I don't need race gas because we can retard the timing by using motec by quite a bit... so that might be why...

MIAPLAYA:

Do you have the website for SGP or the contact details please? Thanks...

So Ferrea valves are no good for over 7300rpm? Then I think it might be good to settle for valve springs, retainers and some locks then... what do you think?

Thanks heaps guys!

Thanks Tony... I am still using the 5/16" spacer with the 05 lower plenum and it seems to be working fine though!

BTW, does anyone know that if I can be able to use VK45DE intake and exhaust valves since they are a lot lighter... They are titanium pieces and will be a lot cheaper than Ferrea though... but the thing is... they seem to be a bit smaller...

VQ35DE (IN: 37.15mm, EX: 31.35mm)
VK45DE (IN: 36.00mm, EX: 31.20mm)

and our cylinder head intake valve inner diameters are around 32mm I think...

cheers,

richie

I dont know if you understood my questions right. I meant that if you went with a 12.5:1 CR, wouldnt you have to use racegas. That is a really high CR for pump gas.

exactly what i was thinking.. anything over your 11.5.1 usually requires race gas thats why i thought you chose that ratio..

I am not too sure about that though... I thought with higher compression ratio, as long as you have an ECU to cope with the changes, that should be fine... and of course the higher octane the petrol is, the better with HR engine

still doing researches on the valvetrains... how annoying to be the first one to go exploring into the places that people have never been...

cheers,

richie
