Default 375 whp NA?

A coworker of mine is selling a 350z and I was considering buying it from him. He had told me that the only thing he had done to it was exaust and intake. What he had not mentioned until just today was that the car has had a previous owner who appearently had some work done because when my coworker dynoed the car on monday it was 374.6 hp at the wheels NA! What could have been done to the car to get that kind of power NA and do you think it would be a good buy or a big risk?

Impossible with only intake/exhaust. That's probably 130whp more than what it would dyno at.

If he added an exhaust and moddified the intake to an already installed supercharger or turbo kit, then i would say def. possible. Car should dyno around 230-245 for an 03-06 model non rev-up with just a intake and exhaust. Rev-up models (05-06) dyno slightly higher and the 07-08 models dyno around 265+ with some small mods.

What I'm saying is that the owner before him had done some work on the car (no idea what) and i've seen the dyno sheet and driven the car. Its definitely NA and its definitely 375hp. What could have been done to it to get that kinda power NA? Bored and Stroked? My coworker said there was a set of dirty cams in a box in the trunk when he bought it so im gunna guess new cams but that doesn't even come anywhere near that kind of power.

I didn't know all of this until yesterday. just thought the car was ur average z with a intake and exhaust for a good price and was ready to buy. I'm more of a turbo guy so i don't really know what kind of work would have to be done to get that kind of power but its appearent that it must have been extremely throughly molested which is what makes me worried about buying it.

LSx swap? vk45 swap?

BTW, nobody sells the highest HP NA z without telling the buyer how special it is. fluke dyno. i dont even care if you think it feels like 375 hp. if it really is an NA vq, its not 375 hp

Either this car has the "Robert K" correction factor on the dyno numbers or you're being lied to.

My car had a Greddy TT, full true-dual exhaust, etc etc, and I only put down 387whp. There is no way this car is making almost the same power as me with all motor mods.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

Those numbers seem a little low.. maybe if you get a UTEC installed you can fine tune it to get to 400 NA..

Get some solid proof like dyno sheets and maybe some pics of the engine bay. . . there is no way that a stock vq can put down that much with a few mods and cams. . .people haven't even broke the 350whp barrier yet . . .

sorry to sound like an @$$, but that guy doesn't know **** about his car and is lying . . .don't buy it. . .

but get more info on it

No OP, dont bother, because its not possible. Even if you had a dyno sheet that said 375whp, either it wasn't from that car, or the dyno itself is all sorts of jacked up.

To summarize this thread's replies - There is ZERO chance that the car in question is making 375whp if it has the original VQ35 in it.
