What about rain? Water doesn't sit up in that channel?

I've got no wipers so no reason for me to be in the rain besides, its my track car. I guess the only thing that sux is that I have to cover it when I wash the car.

Are you going to have some kind of intake scoop?… Design engineers go to great lengths with aerodynamics and even though I’m not an engineer, I think that’s a critical flow point that they try to design for minimum drag – the air flows right over that area… a scoop might be advantageous for ram affect. But you probably already have that covered.

Cool build!

I really don't understand why the air filter is located on the top, why not in the front?

I routed the intake the way it is because of clearence issues. The entire cowl area has a cover and i'm just going to cut a few slits just above the air filter for it to breath.

I'm not going to make a scoop because I can get more open area with the slits over the top of the filter than a .5-1'' x 7'' frontal scoop. Besides the cowl is known to be a high pressure area as the air hits the windsheild.

The base of the windshield is positive pressure area. The HVAC systems in most vehicles draw in air from this area and is typically the reason that the system will flow air if the car is in motion even when the heater/air is off.

it doesn’t take a lot of forced air for HVAC though... the fan in the dash is what blows the air... Again, I'm certainly no engineer, but I can’t fathom how the velocity at that point of the car could be anything close to a more vertical point such as grille... I understand needing to relocate for the reasons he mentioned, it just seems like creating a ram effect would be advantageous... or maybe not

Got the engine running.

I finished up my fuel system with an aeromotive A1000 with -6 AN fittings, and finsihed the exhaust system with a Borla pro-xs at first but switched it out for a straight pipe. The engine fires up the first crank all the time and runs flawlessly. I was also able to use some of the electronic signals like th brake, head, and tail lights, fuel pump, and electric fan. I still have a few things to work out before its drives again but i'll have some more vids later.

**first time seeing this post**

EXCELLENT BUILD AND FABRICATION, VERY VERY CLEAN!!

oh yeah, be careful of wind channeling and drag points with your intake up there.... (i' was drooling with sarcasm as i typed that)

anyway, awesome build, excellent placement of the motor, seems that 100% of the motor is behind the center of the front wheels, great weight distribution. sorry if i didnt read other posts but.. have you weighed the car yet?

great job on this car, its a real good piece of work.

I love it, very creative intake routing. I love how low and far back the engine sits in the engine bay.
Did you said you have the VQ 6spd tranny along with 4.11 FD? It will be so much fun to drive I can't wait to see how much the entire car weight
