Default AT question !?

Alright so ive done alot of research on here so far and learned quite a bit on how i can improve on my AT...but a few things are still in the grey for me.

I am beginning to plan a good NA build but one of the first things i want to knock out is my AT problems, like shift lag. From what i have read the best things to remedy the AT's problems are a shift kit (VB upgrade) and a better torque converter...and possibly a reflash to raise rev limit.

There is alot of grey area here on whats best for NA and/or for FI.

Is it possible and worth it to switch my pumpkin to the one in the MT Z's? Also would say the Transgo shift kit + new pumpkin aid at all in my AT with no other engine mods as of yet? As of now im on a stock DE so will changing these out have any effect for me if my DE is not built yet or do these changes only have an effect on FI's or High HP NA's?

Like i said, i want to knock out the tranny problems first but i also want to see an improvement before the long time it takes to get my DE built.

Is a reflash worth it as well if not FI?

All help is greatly appreciated gentlemen!

The mechanical shift is firmer with the valve body upgrade. There is still some mechanical delay but it is reduced (better/faster/harder at high rpm vs. lower).

The electronic delay can be eliminated by grounding the transmission though some claim it's voodoo (I believe it works).

Changing the torque converter will do nothing for you. So unless you're looking for help with a high rpm launch, you're better off leaving that piece alone.

Finally an aftermarket ATF transmission cooler will help prolong the life of your transmission.

Good luck!

PS. The best bang for the buck performance mods are the subject of many threads - search for it. IMO, MD spacer and 4.0 gears with LSD and call it a day until you decide to go FI.
