Fascinating. I am debating what to do with my ride, and all of this inspiration here is just beautiful! Please keep us updated.

Engine has been delivered to RT Tuning for engine swap, component review, and tuning.

Anyone need a V2 VQ35DE-REV UP long block w 6k miles on it?
Debating on selling or dropping it into my 72 240z.

Anyone have recommendations for cooling mods? I'm planning on rev-ing it to 8000rpms or so. Light, if any, track use.

Thinking of a Koyo racing radiator, Nismo thermostat, and new hoses. Oil cooler?

skip the thermostat it's a waste IMHO (I am on a stock one fwiw, it works just fine)

oil cooler...all depends on what oil you run, bearing tolerances, etc. I'd moniter temps and see if it's a problem first

the koyo rad is excellent, and a bargain for the $$ - mine's been in for years now and works perfectly, holds more coolant than stock and fits well.

Should be getting the final tune this week and then I'll be determining if I'll store it for the winter or bring it home and put the body kit on. I just want to be done and driving this bad boy, but I don't feel like risking anything.

I will be posting dynos ASAP!

Next up, I'll be pursuing a BBK or suspension. Haven't decided yet. Stay tuned...

Looking forward to your dyno.

My rev limiter is set to 8,600rpm but I do not see any horse power gains above 7,800rpm's or torque past 5,000rpm's.

Depends on your environment for adding cooling. I changed my radiator and added an oil catch can and oil cooler and have no heat issues in constant 80 - 95 degree temperatures. I do turn off the AC on the track though. Not only hard on the AC Compressor but it eats a few horses and increases running temp.

Have unofficially broken the 300whp mark, but not as high as I was expecting. Will post dynos when available. Probably have to tinker around a bit.

The 2.25" collector of the lt headers into the 2.25" borla td are most likely causing some significant restriction so I'm looking for a 2.5/2.75 exhaust system. Looking into the SG LT (if they ever make it out) then maybe a motordyne system from header back. Would appreciate any feedback on this.

Since I've built this block, I've been looking into a nitrous system to make some big numbers. Would be pretty unique in the Z world. I'm liking the idea of power on demand, but not necessarily taxing my engine when I don't have to. Must not be coaxed into FI...

FWIW my headers (Crawford) have a 2.25 inch outlet, and my test pipes are 2.25 inch as well. My Y pipe (Fujitsubo) measures nearly the same (2.3 inch to 3 inch outlet).

Congrats on getting it done. How was your baseline on this dyno and what kind is it?

The SG headers will have a 2.5" collector which will mate up really well with the 2.5" XYZ-pipe from MD. Probably the reason why you picked those parts.

Originally, I had the nismo headers and was going to get test pipes, but Vince spoke of the tq gains to be had with the megan lts. When I get the dyno, I'll be able to compare the powerband and peaks to other motors, but from what I understand, I am making over 250wtq from 3000 to 6000rpm, with the peak a little better than 275. Interested in seeing how this dyno compares to other in regards to calibration, etc.

Have you experimented with larger piping at all?

Exactly. I'm hoping Osiris can take advantage of the exhaust cam timing, since I have the tuner system. The MD exhaust components give the VQ a beautiful tone too.

I have the feeling I'm still being held back by the intake, so I'll be looking to play with some custom setups. I wish there was a Z1 maf housing available!

nope, I don't have any plans to change my exhaust

the maf housing is certainly going to give you some improvements but unfortunately there was not enough demand to justify doing a second run

Why don't you just buy a Maf from Z1, it is only 100? Considering you are thinking about dropping close to 5k on the exhaust parts.

Are you the one that tuned it and do you know how well a stock VQ does on that dyno you used?

because we no longer offer it - once the first batch sold out we didn't see enough demand to justify doing a second

See Adam's post above you. No availability. Would have to buy one used. There was an SC'D rev up G35 that came in at 360/290 on there, but I do not have a baseline.

Vince at RT Tuning was responsible for the tune. I need to check with him on the baseline Z numbers.

^yeah, didn't see that post on my blackberry. That's too bad that they don't make it anymore. I'm sure if someone does a good test and makes a good post in the intake/exhaust section, it will generate enough committed interested to warrant Adam to make another batch.

That'll definitely be good to know how a baseline Z is. I think there are a few members that have posted their tuning experience with him too.

Updated exhaust and oil cooler components. GTM and Motordyne FTW!
