Default Cam Timing

I had posted a thread a few months ago but never really had much feedback. I will post a image of the maps I made for my car. It did make more power. Hopefully in the next month or so I will be able to redyno and rescale the map to 8000 rpms. With the intake cam advanced this much the car takes off after 5500 rpms and pulls hard. Before not so much.

My engine is low compression. I made a best of 230whp at 5000ft with just fuel tuning. This resulted in a 1/4 time of a 15.2-15.1 or so. With the cam profiles remapped, rev limiter removed and ignition timing tuning on the street and track i went from a 15.2 to a 14.5 1/4 time before my laptop died. Remember the engine was built low compression to turbo in the future, so don't ***** about the slow times. What I am trying to prove is a vast improvement in power on a revup by remapping the cams.

Awesome info. Can anyone comment on how these values would differ with stock compression revups?

I would have to get a copy of my stock rom and load it to compare it. It is a lot different. It makes quite a bit more power. We will see if any tuners offer any advice. Last time I posted it none did.

If you don't get around to it, I'll post up my stock values later this week. I was really hoping people with the tuner version would share tuning tips and tricks as they figure them out, but so far this forum has not stepped up as much as the maxima forums.

Why would they offer free advice...... You must pay... Just go get a real tune before you blow it up...

Same here. I guess I will have to check out the Maxima forums.

I should have the 06 RevUp Stock Cam Timing in one of my Roms. Let me look around.

Usually I read the maxima forums they share information over there. No one there has really played with cam timing from what I have seen though. If only I had the funds to dyno tune it some more. I also tune my car at the dyno. The owner drives the car on it and I tune it.

My car has a real tune. Tuned by me. Just because your not smart enough to tune you own car don't ruin a thread.

Why don't you get the fck out of my thread and go nut hug a tuner you over payed to tune your car. BTW way to go to ruin a thread. If you do not have anything constructive to post about cam timing and the results, why are you even here?

There is definitely power to be had by playing around with the cam timing, especially if you have aftermarket cams and/or headwork. I haven't had a chance yet to mess with the cam timing on our HR, but I will be sure to report back when I do.

The same applies to a non revup. You just advance your intake cam.

The best way to tune cam timing is on the dyno, so you can see in real time if your changes are helping or hurting performance.

When I advanced my cams my AFRs went from around 12.9 to 14.5, so yea it was making more power. Go ahead and add like +2-4 advance in through out and then check your afr if its leaning out your making more power. But start in the 15.79 colum. If you go to far to the left on the map it will run all screwy, i know from experimenting with it. Start at 4400 rpms where they start to retard and add advance in. My car pulls hard with all that extra cam timing.

Here's my current cam timing map -

I am running Tomei 268deg cams intake and exhaust.

i got that from dyno tuning few years back, at that time osiris took about 5min to reflash with no real time tune so I didnt really want to spend endless hours on dyno back then. I just did not see that much of power gain with fiddling with cam timing back then but maybe it was because I did not advance it as much as rocks did. I got a wideband in my car so im definately gonna test your method and see if my afr drops to leaner side as well.

good to see more people being involved here, except for the useless poster who doesnt wanna learn things himself and worship tuners instead .
