Default Eager to learn

I am eager to learn more about upgrading my internals, but there aren't as many stickies in this sub forum as most of the others. Where, what, who is the best place for info on nov questions like these (search is always my friend, but it hasn't been quite as easy for this topic):

1) For those of us just getting into upgrading our internals, is there a logical order to these upgrades if you need to do them over time versus all at once?

2) Is there a common path for internal upgrades like cams, etc that can provide good NA results but that are not wanted money if you want to go FI later?

3) Which upgrades represent the best bang for your buck, and which the least (I'm not taking about specific vendors/parts)

4) Which upgrades need to be left to a shop versus a patient DIY er?

I'm not looking to be hand fed, so any general point in the right direction is appreciated.

Thanks!

I beg to differ. You asked basic questions that could be answered on any car forum. Your asking pretty basic questions about the inner workings of a motor. Try borders or Barnes n Noble they have excellent car books.

1) All at once because it would be retarded to open your engine multiple times.

2) Not generally, NA and F/I make power in vastly different ways.

3) This question doesnt make any sense.

4) Judging by what you asked. All of them should be left to a shop.

I would just read as much as possible. Search on the web, here are some of my favorite sites:

This is my favorite thread in the NA builds, if you haven't read it, its a must:
