350z rpm delay
I have a 05 AT 350z and recently tapping the gas pedal and the car lunges a little. Although every now and then the car rpm just shoots up and doesnt go no where. Im scared of a transmission issue.
also i have an 04 z and it seemed a lot faster than my 05 both stock besides pod filter.

So your question is what? Why does your Z not move sometimes when you step on the gas while you're in DRIVE? Or the rpm's just shoot up while the car's in neutral and the rpm's stay there? And you want to know why your '04 Z is quicker than your '05 Z?... Is your '04 Z an automatic as well? How many miles are on both cars?

Ok my 05 i tap the gas while in drive and sometimes the rpm shoots up but the car does not lunge. Sometimes when i give it gas it takes a second or too for it to take off. I was thinking my transmission is slipping?
My 04 was also AT with 150k. My 05 is AT with almost 130k. Both stock. Only difference is my 05 has an wing when i purchased it.

I would think one of three things..
- Low transmission fluid: You won't develop enough hydraulic pressure for proper clutch and torque converter engagement. Check the level and condition of your fluid.
- Failing torque converter: Low fluid will result in excess heat and can damage the TC and clutches if left unchanged. If this is what's wrong, more fluid won't help. A replacement TC will be needed.
- Worn out clutches/bands: Low fluid reduces hydraulic pressure, which will cause the clutches to slip, and if left unchanged will cause them to burn/wear out. More fluid won't help. A replacement clutch pack will then be needed.

Sorry one more question. I took my muffler off niw its just cats no resonator. No muffler. Will there be enough back pressure or is it going to bliw the motor eventually?

OP, any updates? My 05 AT touring coupe is doing the same thing.... if I floor it in Drive the rpms shoot up like it's in neutral. If im cruising at 55mph and then floor it, the rpms shoot up but it takes a fee seconds for car to take off. However, if I just take off like normal and drive with the flow of traffic everything seems fine...no slipping. Car definitely seems slow...
