Hey what’s up it’s spider
It’s been many years I’ve wanted a 350z
i guess it took a decade for them to come into my price range but whatever
05
test pipe
manual
Light weight pulleys
sone TIEN springs are in the trunk
im stoked to build this
shh don’t tell my old lady I’m about to blow all my dough on this car
glad to be here any help is appreciated
this is my build thread
🕷
Whatsup fellas. I was watching the fliidrift channel and the dude was using Valspar 2 stage paint in his little garage with some pretty good results.
I am thinking brandywine or candy rasberry depending on the cost after I buy what I need, or convince my boss to let me spray at the shop.
The car has some pretty decent rims and some aftermarket, stuff, Ill take some pics once I pull it out and clean it up and begin routine maintenance.
Thanks for the welcome, Ill update this thread even with the boring stuff like cleaning and oil change and then go into spring swap and what ever else the universe will allow me to do on a mechanics budget.
for now check the vid I referenced, I may throw a wide body kit on it before I paint, I like the ricer look/Im a nerd like that.
Yeah it reminds me of Iroc blue from the earlier z28. I like it as well, I have been watching another channel and this dude has a widebody and i think the color is candy rasberry it just looks real good Im leaning towards that
Ill post the vid If I can get down that rabbit hole again on youtube.
I swapped out my aluminum crank pulley with a used oem when I bought my Z. There is no harmonic balancer on the aluminum crank pulleys. Just something to think about and you can get them for under $30 shipped from ebay
Nice.
Its these little things you guys know that I dont that could save me a headache down the road.
Thank you bro
Hope to get some updated pics as soon as I can get time to pull it out and clean it and razorblade the back window tint, I cant see anything through the back
It was kinda sketchy driving it home from Miami, new car new sounds, new smells, not technically legal etc. Radio doesnt work all the time, drivers window wont go down etc.
I have alot of work to do.
Found these in the trunk.
I assume they will give me a 2" drop which may be too much static to drive comfortably without scraping.
Also, I found a mishimoto radiator and what looks to be a burnt bulb.\
I told you this thread was going to be boring.
Going to do some more boring stuff soon like Castrol oil and maybe a new parts car
The window will roll down if i punch the door with my hand, so I guess intead of cleaning the motor, il order a new one.
paint is on hold until general maintenance is done, then I will contemplate body and paint.
Thanks fellas, I read that after I posted. Sounds good. Not too low, but better suspension. I will throw those on next chance I get.
Today I began routine maintenance. At the Advance Auto I found a replacement low beam (99) bucks. I did not buy it because that may be the most ridiculous price for a bulb I have ever heard of.
I found them on Ebay for 23 bucks for the pair, so likely I will take my chance with those. The oil looked like a river of black mud, I am estimating it was in there for 6000 miles or more judging from the color and remaining viscosity.
I changed the oil with some synthetic blend Castrol High Mileage, and like I read it took the full 5 quarts and settled in nicely on the dipstick to the full level.
Crawling under the car, I noticed some JDM style add ons like an aluminum skid plate thing and like a aluminum bash bar thingy between the bumper and the frame. I know little to nothing about this model so far, Ive owned a 280z and a 300z in the past tho,'
and sometimes I get lost in the youtube rabbit hole watching z vids from TJHunt, Ahmahdzeee, and other owners who inspire us to wrench and ride.
The next step was to remove the weird clear? tint on the back window so I can see while im driving. Maybe next weekend I will buff and wax the weak paint and throw some sponsor stickers down the door for some style points until I have enough money to widebody and paint.
The existing widebody kits look all the same, I was going to design one of my own and post it on here in zbrush for any takers so I can buy it.
Best,
Spider
I usually do about 30 quick and dirty concepts and then pull the best lines from each for a final draft
here is the first smash. after a few hundred more the fender will go to zbrush for final production and or 3d print.
Free Intellectual property for the taking ...somebody make a new fender, the 3 slashes is played out.
This one for instance, I would take that line from the bottom near the wheel and the cutout closest to the mesh. I would delete the upper cut out and also keep the double mesh insert idea.
Any critique or comment is welcome...lets make this happen.
Today, I waxed it and it looks a little better. I saw this stuff which is like a clear coat you just wipe on to bring back the paint gloss, I may try that....For now I put some sponsor decals down the door.
I had them lying around from a sportbike build, they are not accurate for the vehicle, but they look pretty good with the white and blue theme.
I have ZOCIETY decal but Im not really a member of any public societies.
Wink
Maybe later Ill work on a zbrush fender because that last concept was pretty weak.
I ordered the window motor (25) and the HID bulbs (25/2) So waiting on the mailman.......anyways
pic.
