Default Another nerotic question from a newbie

My low tire pressue light has been on since I got the car.

I took the car to " Canadian Tire" where they proceeded to tell me that the tire pressure should be for the weight of the car. My husbands mechanic has said the tire pressue should be for tires and not the weight of the car.

Which is it and what is the recommended tire pressure?
I have a 2003 touring with 17 inch tires.

BTW,
After the "Canadian Tire" guy put 32 pounds of pressure in each tire (which he said was correct), light is still on. He said there must be a "re set" switch someplace you can press to re set everything.

What is the story here?

The recommend tire pressure on the drivers door jamb. What does it say?

i think its 35 psi but im not positive

the O.E tire pressure should be around 35-40psi, on hot conditions. if u live in colder conditions, your PSI levels should drop, meaning ur tires are underinflated. since u live in canada (?), im assuming u should juice up ur psi.
