Default Nismo questions

hey everyone..soon to be new owner here.. i had some questions for you guys though.. i'm going to be getting an 06 gt or anniversary edition and was considering putting on all the nismo goodies on date of purchase.

first of all..has anyone on here done this? and can you tell me ur opinions and what you paid otd? second..can anyone tell me what kind of performance gains i'll be getting for all of this? the salesperson had no clue.. i'd like to have warrantied aftermarket parts..but if they're crap then i'm not gonna put them on.

thanks in advance and i look forward to being a part of the 350Z community

btw i also own the daddy of the 350...the 240z

I suppose I would be a good person to refer to regarding some of the Nismo upgrades. Of course Nismo is expensive but I am one of those that will pay good money for quality. If you have the S-Tuned products installed then those parts all come with a warranty from Nismo. Of course some of the best gains come from R-Tuned products from Nismo. I have both types of Nismo mods on my 35th AE. The gains are wonderful for going N/A. I started with the basic adds which were the cold air intake and exhaust. At bare minimum the exhaust is a must have. But then I went all out and did the suspension, sways, headers, flywheel & clutch (6spd MT), side skirts and rear underneath spoiler, ect. I absolutely love it! All the Nismo mods with discount & labor ran me close to 10k. Like I said it wasn't cheap but the performance gains are incredible (for N/A). I had all of my Nismo mods done through connections at my local dealership which will basically cover the warranty on the items if anything happens.

The next and probably final mods I am looking at would be Hi-Flow Cats (still tossing the idea of test pipes) which I am pretty sure Nismo does not make and the Nismo cams. I need to contact my friend at the dealership about the Cats but I think I am going to look at going with Crawford Cats. The cams won't be installed until I break 7,500 miles.

I purchased my car with all the nismo s-tune goodies except for the wheels (I already had a set that was the right size) and the exhaust (I had originally intended to go with the HKS dual but then decided to stay nismo) and my OTD cost with the body kit painted, springs/struts, sways and decals + labor on an enthusiast was right about $34k. So with wheels and tires and the exhaust included, you'd probably be looking around $36k-$37k But like I said, I had this stuff put on an enthusiast package. so if you're thinking of going with something like a track model, you'll have to adjust the price to reflect the different trim level.

It also depends on whether or not you live in an area where you can get a good deal. If you're shrewd and live in an area where Zs are plentiful and it's a buyers market, you could probably knock a good $1k-$2k off that. if you live in a seller's market, expect to go up $1k-$2k

I think that buying the nismo stuff before delivery is the best way to go as long as that's what you want and you can afford it. All the s-tune parts have a 1-year warranty if installed by the dealer, but if you buy the car with all the options installed, it falls under the bumper to bumper warranty and gets kicked out for 3 years. and generally, you can get all the parts discounted a bit since you are buying a whole package and if you're not interested in stuff like the stock wheels, you might make sure that they'll "buy them back" from you and knock off even more of the price.

Just remember that if you're buying an '06, the front lip WILL NOT FIT. It only fit's on '03-'05. and the performance you get? if you mean cornering and stability, it's drastically different. if you mean quarter-mile, it's nominal at best. the exhaust does sound awesome, but it's only a few extra ponies.

I hope this is helpful and I am making the assumption that you are just looking into the s-tune parts since you bring up warranty. If you're looking into the r-tune parts then you can pretty much forget everything I've mentioned price-wise.

If your getting the new Nismo 19" wheels your looking at 2600 for the rims plus 1700 for tires and TPS, mounting, balancing etc.

considering putting on all the nismo goodies on date of purchase.

- Consider this. The NISMO intake is about $300. Essentially what you will be doing is financing an intake for 5 years. Do you want to do that?

i'd like to have warrantied aftermarket parts..but if they're crap then i'm not gonna put them on.

- All major manufactures warranty their parts (Crawford for example). If you have problems, telephone Crawford and they’ll work with you. Do you believe that a corporation as big as Nissan will give you similar personal services?
