Congrats, damn, and lesson learned.
As to your request on suggestions. Obviously it isn't going to stop snowing anytime soon. I wouldn't go all out on Volks unless you are certain that insurance will be paying for them. I'm sure they have some $1500 wheels/tires in mind. For the color, there's nothing bad about red, but if YOU want a change go with white. I think white shows the Z's curves. Good luck.

I've driven many types/brands of cars in the snow.... no accidents, no problems.... it realy depends on the driver (somewhat the car too) but mostly the onus is on the driver!
It does take an experienced driver to keep a car under control during bad weather, but the car Does have a lot to do with it. If you are saying the car can handle fine in the snow with the stock tires, I would love a set of those tires! MY Z was not driveable in the snow last year, so this year it will sit in hibernation. IMO there is nothing that justifies the risk of driving the Z in the snow if at all avoidable.

Interesting fact, my dad always told me about his old 280Z, and that the thing drove like a dream in snow. Then again the tires it had were alot different, suspension, etc.

Good tires are very important, and somewhat overlooked by most.....
Like I've said, if you put good winter tires + driving skill +defensive driving than there is NO reason that the Z or G is diff (aka worse) than anyother car out there.....

Back to the reason this thread started..
Definitely get the car painted the same color... the same FACTORY color, or an exact representation. Besides the door panels that will need painting, there are plenty of other areas should also be painted (engine bay). Resale may not be on your mind now, but you should always consider it, and a different color paint than the one corresponding to the vehicles VIN # could come off to be shady when buying a used car.
Also, don't drive your Z in that kind of weather unless you absolutely have to. The car wasn't designed for snow, and you are only putting yourself at risk. Good luck with your repairs

yeah. i talked to body shop and my parents. they said i should keep it red but i think im going to do sparkly red. i'm not going to sell the car so i dont have to worry about resale. planning on a new car in 2008 or so and my dad will be driving this car. thats why he didn't let me paint it "mary kay pearl pink". and i'm getting stock nissan chrome rims.

my baby right after i bought him...

my cool head rests...

the rims insurance is paying for...

The red is outta sight....ok...I saw the headrests, and I have to ask "whats his name?"....with headrests like that "he" better have a name.

Ohh...and you will take the headrest out when you get your next car and you leave this on to dad....won't you?

Wow, sorry to hear that girl. The stock tires are terrible for winter. Hook up some decent snows, take it slow and you'll be fine. Don't worry about the hater's here, it's cool that you have generous parents and good taste. your rite on the mark with the paint. keep the stock colour, but throw in a nice metalic flake and maybe an orange pearl. Yeah, have the door jams painted too. Make sure your dad finds a good shop. You should see what it would cost to upgrade to the 18" wheels too. Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

You single handedly emasculated every Z; I tell you girls' with Z's

On a more serious note I would try for 18" wheels and drop the chrome, not a fan of chrome wheels.

I wish my parents were generous. I had to pay for my car. Started off saving 1.5 years for a used 97 accord. totalled it (wasn't my fault) so i got $10,000 out of it. Used it to down payment a Scion tC. Someone hit and ran my tC so I got another $1,300 from insurance. Used that money plus another $3,700 and traded in my Scion tC for the 350z. And now I'm working my *** off in 2 jobs to pay for it and have a little extra to spend.

I've now read two posts where you had an accident and in both cases you say it wasn't your fault. Were you behind the wheel? If "yes" then you have to take responsibility.

With the number of accidents you've had you need to be asking yourself what am I doin wrong? You might not walk away from the next one. Even if its not "your fault" you will be ust as dead.

well my first 2 accident wasn't really my fault. i was driving on big street and someone ran a stop sign and hit me. then the next one, my car was parked and someone hit me. so the insurance didn't find me at fault so my insurance never went up, it went down from 6,000 a year to 2,000 a year.
