The whole point is that someone new to driving at 16-17 does not know his car at all, especially if it is new. if that comment was directed at me in any way, lemme set it straight. no tickets, no accidents, and never being pulled over in any of my 3 cars to this date (6 years) i doubt that would be considered immature.

I honestly suggested he get another vehicle as a first car both as a safety precaution to others on the road as well as to himself and the car. I have known many people who have owned m3's, 330'c, Z's, as well as others who have ended in tragedy to either others, the drivers themselves, or their cars. Its not something to be taken lightly.

Alot of people keep bringint the word up as if this is there first car because of age. This will be my second car. My first one was a 1992 accord, just to clear that up.

I only drove it for a 1 year and a half. It’s not a long time, but considering the hours I drove it for, I think it’s enough. My mom is a very paranoid person. She wouldn’t give me a car as great/ as fast as the 350z if she didn’t think I was responsible enough to drive
It.

I am lucky I am even getting this car. I am really existed, and can’t wait till it’s here this up coming week. I have been waiting for almost 4 months since I test drove the 350z, and it has felt like hell waiting this long. I am getting it from this guy on autotrader.com 10 miles away from me. Cant wait!!

I'M 17! Just kidding. Question though, have only had experience driving an automatic TSX (FWD), and just traded for a Z a few days ago. I'm a little concerned, because before all the nonsense, a few people mentioned how RWD is extremely difficult to control in rain. Now, I would never speed in the rain, but during a very hard thunderstorm last year, I almost lost control on the freeway (hydroplaned) and that was going 40mph. So.. yea. It's a bit of a worry. If RWD is a whole lot worse than that..

Can anyone recommend some good driving courses in California? Specifically around the Woodland Hills area.. maybe I could sign up for spring break.

Default poor kid

....we don't know anything about him except the fact that he's 17 and his parents bought him the car, and we're already passing judgement on him (based on ppl in his age group). isnt that age discrimination? so what if he's spoiled? he's gonna pay in the end 10-20 yrs down the line. if he's spoiled now, he'll just find life harder in his later yrs when his parents cant pay his way thru life.

back in the early 90s my parents bought me a $3500 RX7. friends and relatives say i was spoiled. so maybe i was, but now i pay for my Z, down to the last penny. something to look fwd to when i get off my office job.

enjoy the car... just dont wreck it (gives our insurance categories a bad name), rice it (gives us Chinese a bad name), or be a jerk on the road (give us Z owners a bad name).

hey, i wouldnt recomend of getting the z until u get some exps. Im 18 right now so i know how u feel, but trust me ULL SHOW OFF, heck im known to show off in my GAYOLLA sometimes but only in a empty parking lots. but i think ur better off getting a used z if u still want to, cuz most likey (being young) u wont listen anyways, however make sure u know the limits of the z's braking n handling at A PARKING LOT. but i do forgot about physis and too fit in to the teenage stat of accidents. so all im saying wait up on the z under u under go those extra driving classes.
ps. it great to get a z, ill be happy too (still dun have the money to get one yet) but just be carefull in driving this wonderful car and think(with logic) before u do anything....just my 2 cents

Dude, just enjoy the car and dont try to be hot **** at such a young age... i dont think any of us were fortunate enough to get such a nice car for our first, i know i was lucky enough to get simply a decent one. Respect the car and the road, and you will be fine...

First and foremost, congrats!
Secondly, RESPECT YOUR EQUIPMENT

I bought my first car when I was 18 years old for $1,800.00... it was 1989 and I bought a 1978 280Z... I have come full circle now and love every minute of it.

Consider the amount of response that your thread has received as a testimony of how fortunate you are to enjoy this priviledge at such a young age. Please repay this priviledge by driving safely and wisely.

Always were your seatbelt, regardless of how uncool you or your friends think it might be. It will save your life if you wreck at high speeds.

wow, learn to speak english and use proper punctuation. The point is that sure, every kid wants a sports car, but most young people, specially with a first or second car, can not handle the capabilities of a z. While it is the easiest first sports car to get into doesnt mean its the right choice for a 17yo.

hey.. i'm young also. but turning 21 in couple months... i'm strictly paying off my car with my money. but you can't hate on him just because his daddy give him a sports car at a very young age. I was taught better by my dad, which was to stick me with a '90 mercedes turbo diesel 350... i understood what he meant by having me in a "safe" car. it was surely my beater car... gotta a few accidents and speeding tickets before turning 18. just be very light with the pedal and you'll be fine... my situation before 18 caused me to have points on my driving record and high priced insurance... $300+ a month, liability only. now it's my car note plus $500+ a month for full coverage. hope you don't do stupid stuff and show off, cause you will be sorry in the long run. i've learned, just cruise and calm down, what's the hurry?!? gotta plan things, don't get crazy in to thinking... oOo i got a fast sports car. buy the car to appreciate the fine machinery and luxuries that come with it. that's my two cents.
