I am 18 and got my Z for graduation from my dad when i was 17. It has been my daily driver and i have had it for almost a year now. No speeding tickets or wrecks. I'm sure this kid is responsible enough to know what is right and what is wrong.

Don't go with a base dude, that is what I have and I don't even have cruise control...F*ucking sucks *****...Atleast get the enthusiast. But most of all have fun when you get it...just be careful..this thing is a beast.

since you wanted advice, comments, pictures.

here is a couple of pictures what your car will most likely look like after first year. since new drivers that are under 21 have a 40% chance to wreck their car in the first year. hopefully it will be just the car.

so enjoy!!!!!! btw when you think eh whatever these guys are HATIN they are a bunch of a-holes just turn to the statistics.

The kid asked for advice and that is what people are giving him!! News flash, advice can be positive or negative.... if all he wanted was positive feedback he should have asked for that in the first place..

Dude, it's the same old song and dance for most of the old farts on this forum. Just try to ignore then and move on. I am 19 right now. I've had the Z since Christmas 2004. I haven't had a wreck, or killed myself yet. I have an enthusiast. I would highly suggest paying the extra money for the Enth. It's worth it for the HID's and LSD, not to mention the traction control. I would also suggest NEVER driving over the speed limit in the rain. This car is extremely hard to keep in a straight line in water. I think the best thing you can do is if you feel like you need to push the car, go to an EMPTY parking lot and try it there. Don't endanger your car, your life, and more importantly, someone else's life. With all this being said, the most important thing is thank your parents for being generous enough to buy you such a nice car. I know you're paying part of it, but they still deserve a thank you. My parents have payed for my gas, insurance, and the car payments since the first day I've owned the car. Most of the guys on this forum will call me spoiled blah blah :rant. Don't listen to those guys and just enjoy the car. Welcome to the Forums. Pictures are a must once you pick her up!

Default To all who responded

Thanx to all who gave positive advice. i would like to go with the enthusiast, but I think my dad already ordered a base model for me a few months ago without me knowing about it. he's not telling me much, and he always asks if i want black for my color. i say yes, of course. but, at least the 2006 base model has new bi-xenons, LED tailights, and better wheels over the model years before. i doubt i'll have any problems with spinning out because if i get a speeding ticket i lose the car, so i dont drive 50 through a 25 or 30 mph curve, even if in my sister's mustang on the rare chance i get to drive it. but thanx again to all who posted, i probably will get driving lessons.

You need to tell him the safety devices on Enthusiast are worth re-ordering if need be. I'm 63 & I can tell you with certainty if I was buying a Z for a kid of mine it would have LSD, TCS, & side airbags. If your dad does not understand what these items are (which he well may not...so no offense intended. If I did not own one, I would not), he needs to learn. Betcha a buck if he understands he would re-order.

And he is not committed to buy the car; you can cancel & order at any time.

The rear window is incredibly hard and small to see out of. I still get lucky doing lane changes because of the huge rear pillars. Just be careful. I know you say you will be careful and you prolly mean it but trust me, from personal experience, don't be stupid. You don't know how many times I said I would be careful and ended up doing stupid things. It's human nature. Just be careful and enjoy this amazing ride. Regaurdless of how you got it, please do appreciate it. As long as your not a punk about it, I have no problem with you getting a car and enjoy, its amazing.
Also get a LSD, its a must.

My mommy and daddy told me if i got a speeding ticket they would take away my car too. 6 weeks later i got a 91 in a 65. I went from driving my e36 M3 to a Jeep. I felt like i was driving a dump truck. Look into a getting a radar detector. Have fun wich yo car!

My parents are going to pay for my z, and all I know is my parents like me to be happy. That is the bottom line of it. Alot of you guys just keep saying he is going to crash, and yes most of you guys are saying it cuz you care, and then some of you guys are just gelious off you ***'s Well why should he give up a nice as car such as the z ? I mean if you guys really think that guys in our age range suck that bad at driving then whats the piont of having a car at all? All im saying is you only have one life, Why not start it fun as fast as you can if you have the chance? kids will be spoiled like us 17 or 16 olds no matter what you think. Doesn't mean we are brats. I no for sure I am not a brat. My parents just got there weath about 3 years ago. my parents were broke all the time so I do know the price of a penny. Just cause some kids parents like to see there kids happy with things that the average teen doesn't have, Thats there right. The bottom line is that people are going to do what they want reguardless what you say, so you should just congratulate them while its there. I am just saying I am tired of hearing people judge guys my age and say we suck at driving, and we are brats cuz what are parents can provide for us, when you don't know the half of the people you are dissing. Your just sterio typing the average teen, (Average)..... doesn't mean we all are like that cuz I know one damn thing is that I am not a supid driver, so when you see my sig starting off with " I am 17 years old" it doesn't mean judge me and hate on me cuz of my age. I put it there to let you guys understand that I am young but I have alot to learn about cars and I wil have question that you guys will find stupid cuz alot of you guys know A **** load about cars, I am just her to hang out with guys that are experienced with cars that I can come to with questions and fun conversations to feel welcome in a community of older guys, I am a very nice, good hearted kid that will always like to help, so I get offended when people say I am a spoiled brat, let me rephrase that, I am spoiled now but not a brat. so please don't assume I am some little juvenile. That is my opinion so know one on this forum take offence to what I said, I just had to get it out, and this seemed like the thread to do it.

If you dont want us to treat you like a juvenile, then why do you have " Im 17years old." in your profile? It seems to me that you're bragging and trying to say "I'm better than all of you because my parents bought me a Z and I'm driving the same car as all of you and I'm only 17".

More power to him if he gets the Z. I say the forum should stop hating on kids with nice cars. I didnt have a Z when i was 17 but still. We are not driving a porsche. Its only a nissan. 30k for a car these days is average. Maybe we can give him advice like, go take a driving course class or whatnot. He came in here asking for some advice.

Lets all imagine we are back in time and we're all 17 years old. a Junior?? or Senior in high school, our parents are gracious enough to offer a 350z as a birthday present? Would any of you guys refuse?? Tell your parents "No thanks, why don't you guys just buy me a Kia Rio."
This kid is blessed with loving parents whose willing to buy a Z for his birthday. Putyourself in his shoes.
