Default Base/Enthusiast....Which one?

After having problems with the 2005 Base I purchased 2 weeks ago I had to return it. I am going to buy new now which I should have done from the begining.

The question, Base vs Enthusiast.....I will not use the cruise control.....The audio controls are a bonus but not a must have.....what are the other differences?

I e-mailed the dealership and they are quoting me $26500 + TTL for the 2006 Base and $27,750 + TTL for the Enthusiast. Do these prices seem about right or should I be getting them lower? I am going tomorrow to look so any help you can give me would be great. I want to know what prices I should be trying to get.

Thanks

for a grand you get traction control, cruise control (you'll learn to use it to save gas mostly), stereo controls (you'll use it when your driving)... I mean for a grand you get a lot! Even a LSD!

Default Enthusiast all the Way!

As an Enthusiast owner ofcourse I am recommending that one.

This way all you have to do is upgrade the Stereo and you will
have a sweet ride until you get bored and decide to add a
pop charger etc.

I also have an Enthusiast so I am biased but at least for the 2004's the package gives you alot for the money.

Vanity Mirrors, LSD, Traction Control (saved my car more times than I care to admit to), Homlink/Auto Dimming mirror and cruise control...

those prices sound close to invoice... check out edmunds.com to get exact invoice based on options.

LSD = Limited Slip Differential

Get the Enthusiast. You should also go to the Nissan site & learn about model differences. Might as well know what your buying!

It's not easier to mod. However, if you are going to be modding the $h1t out of your car then save as much as possible from the beginning. For 99% of Z drivers, the Enthusiast is the best bang for the buck. A lot will opt for the Touring or better to have a nicer car. From a purely performance standpoint, the base doesn't have the electrical nannies (VDC and TCS) to deal with. You'll find that most people turn this off as soon as they get in the car or disable it altogether for performance. Some people are retarded and seem to think it is impossible to drive a car without these things even though people have been doing it for years. It appears people no longer know how to control their right foot or can keep an eye on the road so those things become necessary. The half-a$$ed LSD that comes with the car is nowhere near the level of aftermaket units. If you intend to fully use the LSD to it's limits (track days) you'll be better off with something else. If you intend to upgrade your stereo, the steering wheel controls will become useless or your head unit choices will become limited trying to find one that works with them. That is why if you mod (heavily, not popcharger type mods) then you are better off with the base. I think if you are not going to be modding that the Touring is the best bet or go all out for GT but that $10K diff in price between base and GT can be better served in the aftermarket.

Ok, I went to the dealership here in Houston (baker-jackson south) and they didnt have any enthusiast models available. I did see a SILVERSTONE Base 6spd...First the guy tells me since my mom bought a car there last year (maxima) that he can give me the friends and family discount....He comes back with a price of $27,800 + TTL, saying the car was $28,750 + $995 for that coat they put over it to protect it then $2200 OFF for my discount saying it was $27,700+TTL....I said thank you and Said that was way too much, then the MGR came over and asked what I wanted to pay so I said what the hell and said $26k+TTL They came back and said they could not do that so I left....as I was pulling a way another sales manager came over and said he wanted to earn my bussiness and said he would try one more time....He came back with a price of $28,990 OTD. I told him that was still too much.

BTW....This is a 2006 SILVERSTONE base with 50 miles on it.

Does $28,990 seem about right?
Do you think these prices will be lower if you go at the end of the month?

Thanks for the input

MSRP is like $28,750

Sterling Mccall has told me they can get me any color of the base for $26,400+TTL (Drive out $28,327.31) How does that sound? I am really wanting to keep my payments as close to $500/month as possible.....Im already looking closer to $600/month with $0 down......So that makes the Enthusiast not as appealing....

Should I try to get them to throw in something (liek the Aero package) or come down more off the $28,327.31 drive out price? I dont want to be hella cheap but I do wan to get the best deal I can.

Thanks

$25988? That is around $27700 drive out.

Do these dealers have to pay this $600 destination charge that they are charging you?

What is the best price you guys have seen on an enthusiast? A base?

Edmunds shows that the Invoice price of a '06 Base in the Houston area is approximately $25,866.

Default Do shop around!

Use Edmunds like Scott posted. I did and the dealers couldn't argue with the pricing guides. The big Internet is your best friend - too much info out there! I even requested online dealer bids and got back exactly the price I wanted.

I got all price variations, from $1K under to $1K over invoice, from dealers in VA, MD, PA, WV, DE. This was for both special order and new stock [unprep with plastic all over] on the lot. I took the best deal at $1K under invoice on my as wanted GT coupe, a new stock on the lot.

Shop around and you will get the price you want. Competition is great! Make the dealer earn your $$. My dealer was awesome; easiest car buy experience ever - Cuz they truly wanted my business! I dealt with one guy and no BS pricing games.

Edmunds shows the Dealer invoice here in Houston at $25,860
However when you keep moving forward through the options it adds a destination charge of $605 bringing the total to $26,465. Which number is what the dealer paid??

Do you think asking for $26k + TTL would be the right amount?
What about asking them to throw in something like the Aero kit? (says it costs $400-$500) but im sure they get it for less.

Thanks again for all the feedback.
