Default 06 DB 350Z **** - Grand touring

It's the grand touring model with the '06 track rims...

They look awesome, IMO. Just the right offset so they are much closer to the edges of the fenders. 245/40/18 (18x9) front and 265/35/19 (19x10) rear. I was trying to find detailed pics of these rims before I bought, but I could not find any. Maybe this'll help the next guy. Notice there's a weird guard thingy on the rear fender. I guess it helps protect the rear fender from rock chips...

Default not sure about a drop...

Thanks for the compliment. It would look better w/a mild drop, but I need it to perform on the street. It rides a bit firm already, and the suspension seems a bit on the bouncy side. Seems like it could use better shocks. Maybe some Koni's. We'll see, I need to read up on the popular suspension mods for it.

Nice, I like how you cut on the guy when he just bought his car.

BTW it's not a 12-13K difference, between the two models.

Default Thanks for the _positive_ posts

I hear you on the NAV. It was a tough decision not to get it (well, not too tough for a $2k option!), but I think it clutters up the look of the dash. Looks much cleaner without. Plus, my brother owns car stereo shop and can get me a deal on a touch-screen Nav that he can hide behind the center cubby lid.

I'll leave the rims on the car. I think they're bad-a$$. They are more unique at this point than a lot of after-market rims. May not be the case in a few years when there are more out there, but I like em anyway. To each their own...

I'll give the factory brembos a chance... No sense in replacing them unless I fade them regularly during spirited driving or auto-crossing. I don't do any real track driving events or anything. We'll see...

Looking forward to better shock valving and some engine mods so it feels more free-breathing at the higher RPMs. Feels a bit lethargic past 5k RPMs. At least in the demo car. Only 300 miles so far on this one so I gotta baby it for a while.

^ I agree with you on the rims, they are very nice factory wheels and you can also throw on a 275 tire on the back when those wear out.

It's funny you say that because that is the exact opposite of what the car actually does. It pulls harder than the pervious years all the way up to redline which was also increased. The older cars had more low end grunt while the new rev up motors have better top end. Was the demo car an auto or 05 down car?

Default I guess it's all relative....

Demo was an 06 MT, but It's all relative. My "old" car is a 97 M3. That thing loves to rev. I used to accidentally hit the rev limiter in it all the time when it was new because the engine was just so smooth at high rpms and it sounded so willing. The z sounds like it wants to be shifted sooner than redline. It's kinda hard to explain...

The Z's a different car though. I am sure I'll get used to it!

Very nice looking car!

And FWIW, I agree with you on the Nav. Not something I would spend $2k on either.

Beauty. Love that color. When I was shopping I was looking for a blue one as well, but tough to find a used Z with 6spd and blue with low miles -- especially this time of the year.

Dude I have the exact same car. In my opinion I wanted nothing but a "sports car", not a sedan i'm gonna be takin' the family on long trips with to god know where so there is no need for the NAV. I basically wanted a track model with leather seats which is what the car is.

Looks really NICE. I have an 03 with leather and no NAV. Don't need the distraction the NAV would cause when driving. I normally run a mapquest session before I leave so I know where I'm going.

My wheels are 17" but look similar. I like 'em just fine the way they are. In the event I fail to keep them from being sun damaged, I may have them polished later..
