Question New 06 Base Z Owner

Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone on here. I've been registered on this site for a couple of months and I've been reading post after post.

I went to the dealer today to look and just about walked out with a Silverstone Z. I wanted to get some opinions from all of you. At the dealership, they only had the Silverstone 6mt as a base model. I was really looking for a Touring model, but after speaking with a salesman for a while, he talked me into the base, but adding the spoiler, leather seats and aluminum pedals ... for a really nice price. Now my question is ... Should I have them hunt me down a Silverstone Enthusiast so that I get the TCS, LSD and steering wheel controls? Do these make a big diffrence? The Bose system really doesn't appeal to me as I plan on upgrading the sound system on my own.

My answer is "yes"; bet you can buy an Enthusiast for very close to what they want to charge you for Base plus upgrades.

Try a different dealer.

couple of months?

and btw, dont let the SALESMAN talk you into anything you dont want. his job is to move cars off the lot. which it sounds like what hes doing. he doesnt have what you want...so he sold you on what they have. sad.

Of course the salesman will talk you into getting what they have in the lot this way, they can make $$ faster with less effort than trying to help you find the exact model you want. If you want the Touring model, get the salesman to find one for you. Also, if you can wait for 3 months, you can buy any model/color you want because it takes that long to build a Z from Japan and shipped to North America.

By the way, I didn't know you can add factory "leather seats" to a base model. Or maybe it's aftermarket leather seats.

As far as I know its the factory leather seats in black. Went to another dealer today told them what I wanted and they searched in the computer. Turns out there is not a single touring model in silverstone 6mt. Is this possible? The guy I was dealing with was just helping me out he wasn't trying to sell me on anything else, he also looked up the enthusist model and there is one in West Palm Beach and two in Georgia. All of them come with the carbon cloth.

So keep trying to hunt down a model with atleast the LSD and TCS?? Does it really make a big diffrence?
There are two other dealers I'll check out before heading back to the original that is selling me the base model. As of now they are giving me the best deal on paper.

Yea, registered almost a year ago I've just been soaking up all the knowledge.

I've never had a car with LSD or TCS before, and after reading various posts, I've come to the conclusion that the Base model (with my upgrades) is what I'm looking for. I plan on modifying the car quite a bit. From what I've read, I can get the LSD as an after-market anyway.

Thanks for all of the advice.

Yea, I'll be going back in a couple weeks for the leather seats, spoiler, and pedals. The seats are the original z seats, im going with the charcoal leather with the little holes. I was negotiating with two dealers for a few days, I ended up getting her out the door 30k. They threw in a heat license plate and 4 yrs of free oil changes etc.

11 months to be exact.

I can’t tell you which model is best for you, but I can tell you the most popular models with 350Z owners.

Just wanted to update everyone... I got the leather seats, factory spoiler, and the pedals. It was all part of the deal. The parts manager is going to get me the Nismo exhaust at employee cost. Ill post pics in the pics forum later. Just wanted to thank everyone again.

Cool

Congrats!

As long as YOU are happy with your car . . . that's all that really matters.

Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks! Yea, the curbes I've noticed can scratch you up pretty bad. Luckily the ones here at my place aren't to tall so I can park right up on them.
