Default Purchasing an used Z

I'm currenctly in the market in shopping for an used Z. I was fortunate to find out my friend's dad is currently leasing a 03' Base Z with 4 years contract since Dec. 02 (When it came out). I was able to test drive it today and it seems everything runs pretty decent, but I have several questions before I make commitment.

1. I noticed the steering wheel is quite heavy (takes just a bit more efforts to turn than usual) compare to the one I test drove at a dealer. Is this normal? If not, what could the problem be?

2. What other issue should I look out for or check?

3. Interested in the HID, Would I just need a 05+ headlight housing with OEM kit?

Thanks! much appreciated for the replies.

The reason it interests me because he said he has about 17k or even less on the car (this is the reason) and I'm trying to pay as less as I can (Not over 20k). So, less payment will have less financial burden, yet at the same time to have a fun car to drive. Even though the car runs great, but the car also has 48k miles so I'm interested to know what I should look out for on the very first Z.

Also, most of the members on here that are selling have mods already done, and the price is above what I'm expecting to pay. I would prefer to do the mods myself from the ground up, what's the fun in car if mods are already done for you?

As for the HIDs, you can use the OEM projector housing from the year of your Z and buy an aftermarket kit. DO NOT EBAY!!! I bought a kit for the protege I have. Very complete, no cutting or splicing, very simple.

You can try: http://www.ultrabrightlights.com/ and that can give you an idea of what a complete kit will cost. Just match the kit to your bulb size. Try to stay with brand names like McCulloch and Phillips. A complete OEM setup will run close to $1000 if not a little over, if I remember correctly
