used and repainted???
it seems like almost every used 350z i have looked at buying has been repainted. When i bought my z i was hoping to find one that hasnt been repainted, but finally i couldnt stand it anymore, I broke down and bought one. So when i found mine I noticed that the front bumper and hood were repainted. Now after having a little longer i noticed that the passenger side skirt has been repainted but doesnt match that well... ohh well. Im just really picky when it comes to paint jobs, I want everything to match! has anyone else had any problems with their paint or repainting? by the way, i checked the carfax and there has not been any reported accidents, so im thinking they repainted due to rock chips and such...
The Z has really thin paint. So you should be glad that the previous owner actually repainted it before he sold it. But yea.. it's most likely rock chips. My 03's front bumper has so much rock chips that I stopped caring.
yeah.. my front bumper now has a million rock chips in it! but now im wondering if repainted it is worth the risk of the paint not matching.. I have the sunset so I think its a bit more difficult to match. When i bought the car, we removed the liscense plate at the dealer and revealed a crack in the paint. I complained and they said that they would repaint the bumper free of charge. Im not sure if i want it repainted though.

Welcome and congrats! I have the 06 Sunset and that thing shows scratches and rock chips like no man's (or woman's) business. The paint is definitely thin on these cars. I got the touch-up paint (A17) and it works okay, but I also fear getting anything fully repainted so I will wait for awhile. I guess my response doesn't have that much to do with your original post except to say that you will get used to it! :-)
I do business with a lot of dealerships and they usually have what they call a "bumper guy" that comes out once a week and they re touch all bumpers on pre owned cars when they come in from the auction. Thats the first thing i noticed with mine when i bought it. If you look at it, you can tell that the red on the bumpers is slightly darker than the rest of the car (but no one else notice's anyway) and the reason for that is because they have to mix the paint to make the color and as we all know the original fades out with the sun.
