what makes the 07 Zs have 20 more hp than the older Zs?

what makes the 07 Zs have 20 more hp than the older Zs?
just curious. probably getting an '03 Touring, but i just wanted to know why the newer Zs are more powerful and if I can get an '03 to that power without tuning it a lot. perhaps maybe an exhaust system, k&n air filters, etc.
