Default Questions from soon to be Z owner

Hello everyone. It's been nearly impossible to find the specific Z I want here in the Southeast. There was 1 in Atlanta, and I found 1 in Florida. I am flying down to Florida on Monday to get the car: new 07 touring coupe, 6sp MT, san marino blue with aero package.

My questions are:
1. What are your thoughts on safely breaking it in? I'll have about a 400 mile interstate drive home. The car has 22 miles on it.

2. My last name is Fox. Is "Fox Z" on the tag too over-the-top? My wife likes it but I am not so sure.

I don't have any high quality digital pics but here is what I do have. I'll post better pics when I get it.

Thanks.

Congrats on your new ride!

I believe break-in should not really go pass 65 & not stay @ steady speeds.
Meaning: I would not use cruise & go apprx. 60 - 65 and than down to 55?

Thanks for posting photo as I just found my car in PA.
Same as yours & I should have it tomorrow or Saturday?

Thanks for the info. <65 is going to be tough. I've been planning this purchase for 4 years. Had to get through grad school and get a real job first.

I am also planning on seeing what the dealership has to say about break-in, but I expect that there are more experts here than working there.

Manual says not over 4,000 RPMs for first 1200 miles. In 6th that will be above 65 MPH. Probably a good idea to vary speed & rpms.

"Fox Z" is slick. Get it.

Agree. A 400 mile drive will be fine. Just vary the RPM.

Thanks. To be honest, I was so glad to find the right color 07 Touring in a 6mt that I have not asked if the front chin deflector is included. I expect that it is, but I have not seen the car in person yet. I will post more pics once I get the car.

I do have another question. Is the Nismo the only model that comes with the coil spacers? Do I need to look for these on my Touring?

I'm not aware that there's an aero package unless they are putting on a nismo kit? You may want to double check that when you get your Z. All Zs have a small black plastic deflector across the bottom of the chin. Only the Track and GT have the front and rear underbody defuser. If you are paying for an "aero package" I would get them to itemize it so that you know what you are getting.

I think the Nismos are the the only ones with the coil spacers, but it doesnt hurt to check.

The aero package is the front chin deflector, front splash guards, rear splash guards, and trunk lip spoiler.

From Nissan's site:
Aerodynamics Package - $550

The Aerodynamics Package includes a body-colored front chin aero deflector and a rear spoiler which manage air flow and accentuate the Z's performance-oriented styling.

Splash Guards - $160

Splash Guards help protect your Z's lower body panels from mud and gravel nicks. They also enhance Z's style.

They are separate packages.

They must always be included together then...I've never seen a new Z sold with the spoiler/deflector that didn't have splash guards.

Pretty exciting! I agree with the Brickyard Rat. If you have any concerns follow the manual and I would not use cruise control as you want to vary the rpms. Some say break it in like you drive it, but I think there is universal agreement about varying the RPM during break in. Take a few side roads and see the country.

Since it sounds like the car will be used by both you and your wife, Fox Z sounds like it will be just fine. Better than VixenZ.

Picked it up yesterday. Had a fantastic 407 mile trip home. My face and foot were sore - face from smiling, foot because I did not use cruise control.

My wife almost backed (stopped 1 foot short) it into a tree taking it out for her first drive.

Got a question: I changed the RPM flashing indicator (not sure of the official name of this feature) to 4000 since the manual indicates to stay below that # for the first 1200 miles. I noticed after I changed it that "RPM" flashes in the trip odometer area. I don't recall it flashing with the factor preset of the RPM indicator. Can't find any instructions on how to get it to stop flashing in the manual.

Any ideas?

We've been in a drought of historic proportions here in Alabama. Now that I have the car, it's been raining since yesterday. I'll get pics up once I get a chance to clean it.
