Default Need to change Brembo brake rotors?

Hi,

I have 350z with Brembo brakes. Yesterday I put my car to service and today they called me and told me that I need to change brake pads, rotors and brake discs. The car has done 55.000 km and is used mostly for city driving, no hard braking, but a lot of stop and go as there are a lot of traffic signals here. I changed my pads at 30.000 km, so I guess they are due for change again.

But I'm wondering, should it be necessary to change the brake discs at 55.000 when the car is not used for hard driving? Does anyone know the specs for when the discs should be changed?

And, if they need to be changed, can anyoneone recommend some good quality aftermarkets rotors? The price offer I got from my Nissan dealer is just crazy...

Welcome Hood. It really depends on the driving style. Everyone is different & stop start is pretty wearing on running gear. There are lots of options for aftermarket rotors & pads, have a look on the Brakes forum:

Hi,

thanks, this seem like a great forum. So changing rotors at 55k is not unususal?

Yes, I was looking at the STOP TECH - Stage 2 from MyNismo.com. It costs about 1500USD. Is this a decent solution? They also have a kit which is about 700USD. http://www.mynismo.com/products/?id=2966 Can anyone tell me the difference between these two?

First, rotors and discs are the same thing. I don't know if that was a mistake in typing or if your mechanic said that; However, if it was the mechanic you should probably take it somewhere else. Second, im not sure about the brembo rotors but 55,000KM or 34000mls seems pretty early to replace the rotors but i could be wrong. I hope im not coming off as arrogant, just trying to help. Danny
