after 2 years being on this board-- FINALLY getting my 2007
down payment - check
money to tint - check
free sound system from friend before his car got repo'd - check
review at job with raise - check
what am i gonna do with a Z in December and in Chicago?
the questions that i still think about and need some feedback on:
1 - used vs new 2007? Used are hard to find in 2007 BUT I DID locate some. On one hand i graduated my masters so i kinda WANT A NEW one but then again i dont want a used with over 2000 miles.
2. Who knows of a GOOD dealership in the chicago land area?
3. after tints, id lke to drop my car, anyone know the cost and somewhere cheap i can go to get it done in chicago?
4. I'll definately look up for chi town meets when i get my car..... anyone on this board who can PM me so i can talk to em before i actualy GO pick up this baby?
is it true that if i go in the last week of december that a dealership will give me a good deal on a new car because they want to get rid of em ASAP?

I don't suggest dropping the car in Chicago. I live in NYC, a locale similar to the streets of Chi-town, and my front lip is all scraped up. It's simply unavoidable. Going lower would likely damage my bumper and scrape more sh*t underneath.
At most, you'll want to go with a mild-drop, like the Hotchkis or Tein since they drop less than an inch, but you'll still need to exercise caution.

If you can afford it go new! You have no idea how a used car was broken in and how it was driven and maintained. It may have been on the drag strip every weekend and even though it looks good it could be on the verge of major repairs. If you've got to go used find a good, reliable mechanic to give it the once over for you. Might cost a few bucks but he may find something that will save you mega money.
like it depends on the owner..if they are older chances are they aren't the "ricer" type and probably babied the car if you got it used. Like brian posted, there is the chicagoz club. Getting an 07 is a smart move cause you should be able to get a good price on them now that the 08s are coming.

I think they make a 4X4 version of the Z.
I hope it's not a convertible too !
Good luck !
They start giving good deals as early as September on New cars since the next year is already coming in at that time. You should be able to get a pretty good deal now until the beginning of next year on a new 2007. shoot for a few hundred under INVOICE.
Congrats on sticking it out for 2 years of waiting. I thought it sucked when I joined a year before I bought mine but 2 years is impressive. I never would have been able to wait that long.

haha, i will man..... i turn 27 in 2 weeks but imma wait it out till end of december and then im FOR SURE going to get it.i waited it out cuz im takin a calculated risk. I could have bought it out and fell for the "impulse shopping" syndrome and purchased it but now i can afford a Z, crib AND $$ to save and thats what i wanted.
next stop, tweeking my Z but i heard nothing for the 2007 is out yet.
my second car is a maxima 1998 that has 208,000miles on it, got it when it was 50k miles....STILL RUNS like a charm !
thanks for everyones input though, i sincerely appreciate it.
I hope you checked out Chicagoz.com. Pretty good people over there. However, our last meet with Z's is probably Friday. Pretty much everyone except for a select few puts their Z up for the winter. I can't stand the thought of salt touching my Z.
And to the guy who made the comment about not dropping your Z because the roads are sh!tty, yeah, maybe, but that shouldn't stop you from doing what you like. Personally, I think the roads aren't that bad here except for the never-ending construction. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Hope to see you at a meet sometime, if not this one, then in the spring.

nicolas cage said something along the lines of driving a good car can be better than making love sometimes in gone in 60 seconds.... i got that feeling driving before but since this is MY ride, the climax is YET to come once i break it in and gun that baby.
