Default New Owner and undecided on which exhaust to get...

Hey just got a 07 base in solar orange like 3 weeks ago and im not sure which exhaust i should get. ive been looking around and heard the topspeed n1 exhaust which sounds pretty nice but think it might be too loud since thats what ive been hearing about it. also thinking about the borla exhaust but not sure if its going to make it that much louder and deeper then the stock exhaust. any1 with experience of these exhausts please post...

Depends if you are going to add more to your exhaust(headers, testpipes). I have the borla along headers and tespipes w/ a magnflow x-pipe. It has a nice mellow deep tone. No rasp it sounds little more deeper than stock at idle , but sounds awesome while under load. You will know you have something there. Tame while crusing and a nice growl while WOT.

Greddy Evo or HKS Hi TD is your best bet for dual.

Are you planning on staying with two tips or one? True dual or single pipe?

There's a LOT of info here. Try search.

I recommend that you:

a. Set a budget.
b. Decide what configuration is best for you. Single. Dual. One or two mufflers.
c. Listen before buying.

OK... now what kine true dual? One muffler? Two mufflers? Angled tips? Straight tips?

+1 on what David said... you absolutley MUST listen to any exhaust you might be thinking of buying in person to make sure you can live with the noise it makes.

Nismo is louder than stock with excellent deep growl, but looks very similar to stock. The look you're going for also determines a lot, I just went from Nismo to AAM 3" true dual Ti tip exhaust. Looks and sounds amazing

You should be able to find a used GReddy for cheap. It sounds AWESOME.

I'm a fan of the AAM single. Sounds and looks great, even with test pipes.

Mine has an Injen Sport, which sounds pretty good. A nice growl, but not overpowering. The tips also sit at 45 degree angles, not straight out, so it looks spiffy too.

I hate to say this because I have an after market HKS but I have heard some stock exhaust systems with like 50,000 miles or so where the packing inside the muffler has worn in a little and doesnt seem to get any better sounding than that. The after market systems are tough to buy because you are trying to purchase performance and sound and most of the time it is hard to get both. Especially who wants to purchase a Z and it sound like it has a fart pipe. My suggestions is go to Z meetings, Zday out there in mountains of N.C., and try to find car shows where the events are outside and listen when the start them up. I will recommend one thing nothing seems to beat the sound of titanium. That sound is just bad ***. Titanium is expensive, but to me well worth it. Now I like the sound of Fujisubo Titanium but the power gains did not seem to change from stock. Headers make a different tone and I highly recommend a resonated test pipe if your county and state will allow it. The resonated test pipe helps deepen the tone along with titanium really seems to get the exhaust note really low. Also keep in mine future mods like turbo or supercharger, that may change your mind on the diameter of the exhaust you may want to go.

No county or state will allow any kine test pipe... it's federal law that all vehicles after a certain date (can't remember specifically) MUST have operating catalytic converters.

I love the way this exhaust sounds. He's a member on this board (A1C Basinger). It's an AAM single with test pipes and y-pipe.
