Default 350Z Clutch

Hey everybody. So is the clutch on the 350 supposed to be so hard? mine is hard but has a really short travel. Im not used to this as i have had one z31 and several mustangs, none of which have such a short travel. I thought the clutch on them (350's) were supposed to be light as a feather??

My clutch peddle is very stiff and the engagement is very touchy. Most owners have realized that after purchasing it. My bro took my car for a drive and he also told me that it's really stiff compared to his 93 Civic Si.

Hmm... I just got my 35th anniversary and the clutch feels pretty smooth to me. I would say I have to get the pedal down 50% to switch gears.

My last two manuals had much harder clutches. 98 Mustang Cobra (not my car but I drove it ... a lot) was very similar to the Z in travel distance but the pedal was stiffer. My Eclipse had an ACT 2600 and it was very stiff. I only had to press the pedal down about 10% to disengage fully. And when u let it back up it caught, quick. Not a lot of room for play at all. So compared to that this stock Z clutch is... super smooth.

yea its very stiff. When I get in my girls Del Sol I basically push her clutch pedal through the floor! I had to ask her if its broken!

Manly car = Manly clutch

Coming from an Integra, the clutch was heavy, but you get used to it

i think a lot of nissan's, or just the Z and Sentra Spec-V, have a high engagement point...my clutch engages about 1/3 of the way down and my friend's sentra is similar

I think its a little light for a 300+ hp sports car myself. But its not a torque monster of a motor either so...

I've driven four Zs (2007s & 2008s) over the last month (just bought an 08 PPW touring yesterday). All of the cars have had a very long throw with a very high engagement point. The action is also very quick and unforgiving, requiring some getting used to and some extensive clutching. I have driven several MTs in the past but all american cars.

I'd say it depends on what year 350Z you're talking about. I have an '05 and I'd say it's a very light clutch.
From what I read here the '03 and '04 had very stiff clutches. I believe the clutch was changed beginning in '05. I can't say about the '06 to current models.

When I got my Z it had about 35k miles on it. The clutch was very light, To the point when I drove a mustang I thought it was messed up. A couple months later I replaced the clutch with a competition stage 4 clutch because mine was toast. I think these guys are right about the year. Just my two cents. The new clutch is touchy and that's a understament. I love it.

Just put a JWT clutch in it , it will become as light as a normal 4 banger clutch.

No, the 350Z clutch is heavy. Is not a light clutch compared to my A4.

I just got a 2003 350Z and to me the clutch was stiff. Mine hooks around 1/2 the way down. But i bought this car with several upgrades. I don't know if the clutch is stock or not though.

yeah i get into other cars and slam my foot through the floor the first couple times i use other clutches... granted mines even worse cause it's stage II race, but even most of the stock clutches on Z's i've driven are pretty nice and stiff

My 07' clutch also has a long engagement & smooth feel to it. The first day I drove it I felt like a newb. My Sti had a real stiff clutch and when it engaged you knew it! The Z does take some getting use too.
