i was wondering about that---what recourse (legally) do i have regarding that. i noticed there were no aluminun pedals which made me a bit curious. the salesman swore it was an enthusiast. also on the "general" page of the advertisement, it clearly states aluminum pedals and cruise control. i did print out a hrdcopy of the advertisement in case they try to change it on me.

by the way-----how did you find the ad for the car i bought?

I knew it was Keyes the minute I read your post. However, caveat emptor.

I really don't know that much about buying/selling cars. Basically, the salesman knew there was no way you could see the car in person, so he told you whatever it would take to get you to buy it. My guess is they have had this car on their lot for more than a few weeks. How many local potential buyers do you think saw this car and passed on it? Further, why did they pass on it? Keyes was asking about $26,000 for a car that has a list price of about $29,000 Base (or $30,700 Enthusiast, if they want to "market" it that way). What could be wrong with a car with so few miles? Or so the thinking goes. Also, how much do you think Keyes bought this car for if they were advertising it for $26,000. Further, you say that you bought it for $23,500. I'm trusting that you told the truth. Some people claim that no dealership sells a used car for less than they paid for it, especially a car that is practically brand new. So that leaves us with a 2007 Nissan 350Z that was traded in for less than $23,500, even though it has fewer than 800 miles. Something is not adding up here. I know you said that CARFAX listed the car as being leased as new in November 2007, so why would the lessee get out of the lease almost overnight? The lessee has zero equity in the car and would have to pay a substantial penalty. Even more troubling, why would Keyes have it? Wouldn't the lessee return the car to the dealership that leased it to him/her just two or three months before?

Why would the Keyes Automotive Group have a used car with fewer than 800 miles, especially that particular dealership? I've been told that everyone on this board knows Keyes' reputation in the automotive business. You have no idea how upset and angry I am right now at what they did to you. People say that shady things go down in the San Fernando Valley, but let's just assume Keyes' location is a coincidence.

If you were selling a car with an MSRP of $29,000 three months and fewer than 800 miles after you bought it, how much would you be willing to sell it for? Six thousand dollars less than you paid for it? CARMAX would give you more than that, but then again, they don't buy cars that have suffered serious damage or have salvage titles.

I say to you, sir, cancel the deal at once. Or keep the car and forget everything I have written.

thank you for the lengthy reply and genuine(seems like) concern for my well being during this transaction. i am currently in the repossession business and have picked up cars with very low miles--under 100 in some cases. sometimes people will buy a car on impulse and later find out they cant afford insurance, or lose there job, significant other flips out, etc. once a car is titled, it can not be resold as new even with low low miles on it. if he previous lessee returned it to the dealership--the finance company that leased the car, and bought it from the dealership, owns it. so the leasing companies usually have the cars picked up and sent to the auction to recoup any money they have in the unit. sometimes even for a loss. i can only hope this is what happend, or some form of it. i will definately keep this thread updated.,and thanks again for your concern.....it is appreciated.

I found that ad by doing a search on autotrader for a 2007 350z within 25 miles of Sherman Oaks, CA. I knew the car had to be from that part of the country when you described it.

I am hopeful that the situation you described (lessee returned car to dealership; leasing company took car to auction) is what happened, as it represents the best scenario.

Everything will be okay when people stop misleading others for personal gain.

Best of luck to you.

they did do one thing that i consider questionable. it was an additional 1500 added to the price of car for "transporting" which i had already told them i would be arranging myself as i have friend at the local Infiniti dealership. i had my credit union call them to inform them of the "error" and let them know that the figure would be changed on the contract. soo we'll see. after your first post in this thread i won't be totally cofortable untill the car is in my driveway and have made the first payment to the credit union.

Definitely a base not enthusiast. But it does have side air bags, which for me is a huge plus. Looks great in the ad. Great color too. I hope it works out for you.
