Default Newbie Question

Hello everyone,

Obviously, I'm a newbie, and I don't own a 350Z yet, but am considering it. I currently have an Acura CL Type S 2002 and a 2003 Corvette Coupe. I'm looking for a new car for my wife and she loves the looks of the 350Z.

Are there any common problems to look for with this car that you can point out so far? Anything like constant squeeks, rattles, major mechanical issues? I'm hoping to test drive one this week.

Thank you in advance!!

for the most part, youll get a solid car, no big rattles, there were a few on the beginning ones, but theyve been fixed I think.

there was an issue with grease on the windows, but a fix was released, not sure on whether it worked or not, it was no big deal tho, just some grease from a roller.

ummm there were issues with feathering on the tires. again, the discussions on this too have died down, which makes me wonder if this wasnt fixed as well. I believe it had to do with the alignment being off on some cars, a TSB was released for those.

then you have your replaced trannys, and other things that would of course be considered major, but I dont think any of them are ANYWHERE near what would be considered more than normal. If your familiar with web boards you know things look worse than they are because on the problems get discussed.

all in all a solid car, that I dont think anyone here regrets buying.

we have quite a few acura CL owners here, EX-CL owners converted of course.

not so many corvette owners tho.

it wouldnt happen to be a Z06 would it? if so please post pics so I can virtually drool on it.

No, not a ZO6, but I'll try to attatch a pic, not sure if it will be to big or not. Corvette was my dream car, but I still have a little big of the "import" bug in me. So I figure if I can get one for the wife, I can play around with it a bit too

I soon will also be an ex-CL owner as I'm am on the 3rd tranny. The plan, right now anyway, is to keep the vette, and get a Nissan Murano for my daily driver and the 350Z for the wife. She currently has an 03 4 runner that we are also having major problems with, so that will go soon too hopefully.

Are there any tall/big guys out there that drive the 350Z? I'm just wondering if I'd be able to drive it, I'm 6'1 about 220. I've sat in an S2000 before and don't think I could comfortably drive it. But the vette has so much room!!

yeah youll fit like a glove. but definitly go find out for yourself, its more about how your built, long legs or long torso, that can make you fit better or worse than a guy thats 6'6. also different people have different preferences, you may want your legs straight out, while others may be happy with their knees an inch from the dash.

I'm 6'2" & 225; my sons are 6'3" & 6'4". We all fit fine. In fact, I find the Z so comfortable it has become my dailey driver instead of the weekend cruiser I expected.

There are nit-piks with Z but none you should consider a deal breaker.

Mmmmm...the gunmetal color on the Vette. I LOVE it!

My hubby's 6'2" and about 220 and he fits in the Z just fine--not that I let him drive it, of course. lol And I think by now, it's pretty safe to say that a new Z should be virtually problem free. Mine was built in January, and delivered in March and I haven't had a single problem with her, except for the fact that I don't have her modded enough yet. lol

But definitely go test drive one for yourself--everyone's different and Zs aren't in short supply anymore. Test driving one shouldn't be a problem at all.

Good luck!

Thank you for the compliment!! Once I saw this color, I knew it was the one for me. It is new for 03.

Speaking of Mods, are there any good "vendors" or other websites to look at to see what is available for the 350Z??

Thanks to everyone for the information, I really appreciate it.

I would reccomend Avalon Racing (www.avalonracing.net) or Gruppe-S for (www.grupee-s.com) starters. And there's always finding a good local import shop that will be able to help you out with stuff, as well.
