octane
Owner's manual says 91 or 93, but doesnt say anything about voiding warranty if I use 89.
89 seems to work fine. Many of my fellow z owners say the knock sensor will compensate for the low octane, and I find this to be true. But if repair issues come up under warranty, afraid Nissan will say "you used cheap gas, you lose".
I called Nissan customer service and went on record asking if this use of lower octane gas would be a problem. They said they would get back to me and never did.
My local liquor store sells 90 proof alcohol at 3.00 a gallon. W/gas here in Pacific NW at 4$ plus a gallon...I'm thinking of converting!
Anyone have any ideas?

for christ sakes, just put 91-93 octane in it. I don't understand why people buy a car that REQUIRES premium and ends up being a cheap @ss and using a lower octane, for what? to save $3

lol, word for word, i agree. especially the"christ sakes" part.
to the OP, of course any octane of gas would "work" in the car but you dont' know what harm you are doing. Just put in premium and be done with it.

However, if you put in your 90 proof alcohol, you might get the sensor drunk enough to let a few low octane fill-ups slide by.
So there you have it!

Just use 91/93 octane!
