Default About to be a Z owner

Well imma get flame possibly, Im 17 right now and well planning to trade in my 2008 honda accord for a 350z. Was gonna get one last week but another guy snatched it , it was a clean 2005 with only 40000 miles on it =(, so now waiting til another one shows up. Before you guys say I dont deserve a Z, I do work 7 days a week, 50 hours per week and paying for everything down to gas money. My mom only signing the paper for me.

A pic of my Honda

Love honda but cant resist a Nissan

Good luck finding your Z. Why are you gonna trade a new for an used car?
Ignore all the BS about "deserving" a Z and enjoy the car when you get it.
Just be aware it is a 300+hp FR car and not a FF Honda.

hmm.. i would drive the honda for a little while. your going to end up carrying a lot of negative equity if any or end up losing a lot of money from that honda purchase. after tax title license im assuming for your honda your going to end up carrying over atleast 4k. and if you got suckered into buying any back end products then itll be worse. your going to end up buying a 350z for around 17-19k and end up oweing around 26k after ttl. not a smart choice but its truely up to you. If i were you i would find an 07-08 with low mileage and carry all the losses onto that loan. unless your just loaded with money then it truely doesnt matter. but hope all goes well and you get your Z.

Even though it is your money, this is a really good time to listen to your mother. At your age, buying a new car at all was a big mistake (in my "old fart" opinion). Trading it in on another car at this point is just making a bad decision, a horrendously terrible decision. Taking a $4k loss on the car is like taking a lighter to 40, $100 bills just for kicks. You may also want to check what it will do to your insurance rates as well.

Also, heed the advice about going from a tame front wheel drive car, to a rear wheel drive car. Be careful.

Look for an 03 or 04 with over 45k miles. This way any problems with tranny which would your biggest worry would have already shown or been replaced. There are plenty of 03 Z's that can be had for around 15k or so. Sell the honda private party and hopefully you then won't find yourself upside down on a loan. I am 18 as well and in the market for a Z and trust me 03's over 45k miles seem like the best choice for someone that want's a nice Z with good mileage but cant afford a newer one. 03-05 carry the same engine and etc so don't worry about something that seems old.

BTW autotrader says even the base models of an 08 accord go for 18-19k pretty easily which if you sold it to someone even for 17k you can get a nice Z for 17k and not be upside down on the loan. payments would go up though becuase of a higher APR since the Z would be used.

Welcome to the forum. Hays speaks sense, especially with regards to the cost of insurance etc, etc. Z's comparatively more expensive to run than your average Accord. Good luck for your hunt, let us know how you get on.

I checked with insurance, they switch my name with my mother on each of our car to make it lower, (120) for my name on her ford 4runner and 90$ for her name being on my honda. If I get the 04 or 05z it'd be 120$ to have her name put on it. Thats what i was thinking of doing, sell the honda to private party and make new loan to get that Z. Im looking for anything under 15K pretty much. Still no luck so just gonna keep waiting
