Talking omgnoob!

Hey guys, I'm a Kansas resident that just picked up an 03 Track:

Loving it so far! I'm more accustomed to twin-turbo 3000gt/Stealths (used to be into them pretty heavily), so the Z seems extremely nimble to me. Still getting used to the different power curve and the lack of the BOV however. Its definitely slower than my current Stealth, but not by much. Aside from sheer HP and launching, it has the stealth beat on practically everything else. However, there seems to be numerous people with 03/04's running mid 13's on bolt-ons, and slicks are always an option!

Anyway, I do have a question for you guys. I've done quite a bit searching, but haven't had much luck... can anyone tell me WTF this is:

Its some little module thats wired into a plug thats on the main coolant line. Two wires going straight to that plug, and thats it. Not entirely sure what that plug is, coolant temp sensor perhaps? I kinda assume its something else, because why would you have some sort of performance module tied only to a coolant temp sensor? lol

Also, what do you guys think of the tint on the headlights? Not 100% sure I'm a big fan, but I think I like it more than the stock lights.

+10 one of those ebay parts that are suppose to increase 25 horsepower, no idea why its tapped into the coolant line, just search 350z parts and accessories on ebay, you will see plenty of them, get rid of it

Haha cool, I figured as much. Thanks guys!

Any comments on the headlight tint?

Also, is it just me or does the Z have what seems like a super heavy flywheel? I swear this thing takes forever to drop revs when I stab the clutch. Maybe I'm just used to light flywheels or something? hah

It looks nice. I just noticed it on the top and side of the headlight.

Yes, the Z's have heavy flywheels. 28-30lbs if i remember correctly. They're dual-mass.

Get a 14lbs one-piece flywheel, and you'll have much quicker revs, but at the cost of tranny noise.

Stealths and 3000GT's are over weight slow *** pigs. My 300ZX TwinTurbo was a lot faster, more reliable, and better looking then any stealth/3000gt. Anyways congrats on your new Z and enjoy

Nice, looks like a good buy. You can and should definitely take that "Street Tech" BS off.

Thanks guys!

Got that module off... I still can't even imagine what the advertisement would have been, considering it was attached to what I believe was the coolant temperature sensor. I tried to break open the box, but if theres any electronics in it, its been filled with colored RTV like stuff (often used on electronics, forget what its called).

Anyway, its been fun to be in new-car mode again... debating if I want to go FI or Nitrous, etc, lol. I'm sure you guys know the drill. I like the idea of the stillen blower the most, but seems its gains might not be worth it compared to other stuff :-/

Also, maybe you guys can answer another noob question for me. The center trim around the DVD Nav box, stereo, gauges, etc -- How do I remove it? Its rattling pretty bad, and its getting annoying, want to see if theres anything I can do about it. Seems like its not sitting all the way down or something (like, theres a lip compared to the DVD nav box, and if I push it down, it makes it flush).
