Default New Z owner with misfortune :[

So, I got rid of my stock 97 e36 m3 and had to make a decision between an 06 350z, or an 05 330ci zhp. Obviously, went with the Z, why? Because I got a deal I could not turn down.

2006 350z PPW Base 6speed
38,200 miles
Clean Title
$14,000

Now, after driving it and just starting to enjoy it for a week... I somehow... lost my set of factory key/remote. The person I bought it off of only had 1 set, and an aftermarket key/remote. So the back-up key could most def. get me in and out of the car, but just can't start it, since its not programmed.

So... I call AAA to tow my car to Tustin Nissan here in Orange County. Apparently when I got too work, I got a call from Tustin Nissan saying that there has been a problem when they were about to take the car into their hands... I asked wtf is the problem... he simply replied "Your car fell off the flatbed at about 3feet in the air..." - my later reactions Ill keep to myself...

So anyway, I leave work and drive there, and what do I see? My car... which seemed like it just got out of a freakin accident... So apparently, the tow guy, as he was declining the flatbed and getting ready to unload the car... it was not securely attached?? It just rolled off the flatbed once it hit a certain angle, and dropped a good 3 feet, and bounced a couple times. It landed tail first, and the bumper clipped the flatbed... Causing quite a bit of damage... NISSAN towed it to their body shop... not AAA... and estimated damage ~7 grand... So now im just sitting here waiting for the damn insurance company for the tow company to send an appraiser and write the damn check for the repairs... So I would say a good 2-3 weeks at least... sigh....

However, I'm currently driving the family car :] 2007 SL 550(non amg) hard top conv. - very nice.

Well that's my story, and I'm very happy to be a Z owner, however I will always stay loyal to them Bimmers :]

sometimes you can talk to the body shop and see if you can spend the money on different bumpers, or wheels or exhaust, etc. sometimes their cool sometimes their not... you can convince them to get you the Oem nismo bumpers or nismo exhaust... lol it's still factory

hmm....

didnt think of that, cuz the adjuster called today and said theyre gonna write a check out to my name and the body shop? I didnt object, cuz i guess i wasnt thinking as smart as u are now..

Well I mean with the money they give anyway, aftermarket would be more than OEM would it not?

Havnt done much research yet on what I want to do to my car.

by the way you should pay attention to the body shops reputation, I would ask around... even though the dealer sent you there doesn't make it a good body shop...

I think they're reputable. I trust them, theyve been very helpful. I think I will be able to persuade them to maybe do some nismo parts... atleast for the bumper/exhaust ... ill see tomorrow

Pic of sl... dont have a pic of the one im driving... but its pretty much the same as this one with different wheels.

OEM parts are VERY pricey. I'm sure they won't even give you factory Nissan parts; they'll just buy some aftermarket OEM replacements. Think of your options, you can always call your insurance company back and tell them to write the check out to you.

Pity about the incompetent tow guy. Having had a decent drop there, and not the normally sort of desirable "drop", definitely make sure it's okay.

What a shame you Z ownership started off soooooo rocky.
