Just Purchased 2005 Touring
Greetings. I have been reading these forums for weeks and just want to thank everyone for all the great info. I have not purchased a car in 12 years and previous vehicles were an suv and non-sport coupe.
I just purchased this car the other day from a used car dealer. Had an inspection company look at it first and it checked out. fingers crossed it has nothing major wrong with it.
It has 26k miles.
It has an air intake system i do not recognize and am wondering what you all think. keep it or dump it? Also, can I use a cleaning/oil kit on both the filters?
I'm not atm looking to mod. More concerned that this intake could be hurting my car either by damage or lack of performance. Any opinions are apprec.
Thank you!

NIce find. I've got an '05 Touring also and they seem to one of the most trouble free of the DE engines.
The intakes does look pretty odd. I could see the double filter freaking out the MAF. I can't see how that would give a very consistent airflow.

Welcome and CongratZ. Looks like a make shift filter, look around the shops that are sponsers to see if you can find one similar...doesnt look like any Ive seen.
