Alright i know most of you guys know car's inside out and well ill be honest and say i know next to nothing about maintenance so that's why i'm here. for one im pretty young and well ive always just taken it to the dealer but now im looking to get into the whole aspect myself. my primary question is this, in regards to oil changes. I've read through some of the posts about this and im not understanding something. I currently have 8k on my car and ive had the oil changed once thus far. At this point where do i stand? Like should i change it to synthetic or? If i read right I prob should have had 2-3 changes by now but not with synthetic till approx 10k............or am i wrong. If someone would like to be a good samaritan and give me some info on this situation i would greatly appreciate it. Seems mobil 1 or redline was the consensus for the "top" oil but my question lies more in regards to when i should switch over. Thnx again in advance

 

I don't think there's any reason why you shouldn't switch over to synthetic any time now, if that's what you want to run. Go for it.

 

I had my 1st change at 1200 mile and stayed with regular (i.e. non-synthetic). The second change was at 4500 and I switched to Redline Synthetic. I have 6000 on the car now. I plan on doing another change at about 8500 or so.
